I've got a big problem with my net. It cuts out every single time the phone rings or is pulled off the hook, so it gets cut off very often. This is an annoyance at best but it's a big problem when it comes to huge files, such as the Bad Company 2 patches. When it disconnects it has to go back from the start, which is impractical with my snail's-pace internet speed.

So my question is if there's any kind of plugin for Chrome (or a different browser) that will automatically pause and resume my downloads when my internet gets cut out, like Steam does? Because it's pretty much impossible to know when the phone will ring, and annoying having to disconnect the phones just for a 3-hour download.

If anyone can help me with this I'd be very grateful.

toasty, are you on wifi and have a wireless phone? If so, they're interfering. Get yourself a phone on a different frequency, (like 1.8ghz or 5ghz) or try changing the channel to the lowest or highest on your wifi, as 2.4ghz phones in general use channel 6.

Could also be a phone plugged straight into the line without a filter.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

I have a filter on the modem and all of the phones.

Been using it for ages because I like to start and stop my downloads.

http://jdownloader.org/

It's a really cool download manager that even lets you set the speed, you can start and stop and have multiple downloads at once! All programmed in Java with regular updates and it supports extensions I think...
