read the questlines, in cataclysm there is more story than i have every seen in native and TGC together.
there wasnt much story going on in native, in TBC it increased a little bit, but in WOTLK and CATACLYSM a lot of quests are bringing the story forward and now there is even cutscenes.

But all they did in Cata was go.."Hmm, these fanboys sure love Azeroth...let's burn it for a 'dramatic' storyline."

Synopsis is a description of the story in full as written by the fans - and it seems pretty bland.

In 7 minutes first ever footage of the game is going live Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim

Getting on is a joke. I wonder how many people were trying to get on the elder scrolls site.

the ES team said in an early interview that skyrim might have co-op play, which i really wish ES4 had. if it doesnt, i think it'd going to lose the competition vs Diablo 3 for my play time.

I watched the trailer and...

I have hard time deciding what's the game of the year. Skyrim or DNF. Skyrim is beautiful as hell, with epic soundtrack and seemingly awesome gameplay and Duke, well Duke is just a legend in new outfit

I probably shouldn't say this but I cried watching the trailer. Just because of the song. My childhood Morrowind theme transformed into something so epic I can't even describe it. My friend said that I'm a sissy for crying watching a game trailer but oh well

I refuse to let myself watch the new trailer. I am already WAY too excited about Skyrim, and the wait is already excruciating enough. Watching this trailer would be bad for my health.

Damn you all! After reading peoples' reactions to the trailer all over the internet, I just HAD to watch it. Skyrim just might become the greatest video game ever created. Oblivion was previously my favorite game ever (tied with Mass Effect 2), and Skyrim looks like it could be even better. The wait is just painful now.

One little thing though: Why don't game trailers ever show the game's HUD? It's almost as if game developers are ashamed of showing their HUDs.

Oblivion was much like other RPG's, in fact it probably had elements of every major RPG so far. But that's what's good about it, because Oblivion is a great game, and most RPG's are not. Apart from Oblivion and Fallout3/NV, I barely play any RPG's, in fact I did a helluva lot in Oblivion besides completing it, I played through Fallout3 and all the DLC, and New Vegas was the only game I'd play for like a whole month.

There are no other RPG's that come close, and I have tried lots. So I get kinda puzzled by Benjamin saying it's just another RPG, because it clearly isn't - it's THE RPG, and all the other RPG's that have nothing to do with Elder Scrolls might as well turn in their umpteen facetted die. Can anyone name an RPG game that even comes close to Oblivion?
For me, The Witcher, and Two Towers just reinforced my opinion about how much better Oblivion is. Skyrim is gonna be amazing, and if you don't see that, then you probably aren't paying much attention .

I didn't mean it's just another RPG, I was just pointing out that the trailer didn't really tell us anything about the game. I personally love Oblivion, and I'm really excited about Skyrim.

and so it shall come to pass, that I will live out my dream as a rouge once more.

My friends watch me play Oblivion with a huge number of the mods that were built to make the environment more varied, and inventory better, etc, and they are blown away.

I don't play games too often, being my senior year in college, but when I do, I play oblivion.

Skyrim looks to make playing games almost as much fun as writing stories and drawing again.

Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and Portal 2.

Thamk god the release dates are so far apart, I'd never make the decision on which to buy.

Which is game of the year though? I'm not even gunna say. Portal, best puzzler I've ever played, Mass Effect, best scifi shooter I've played in a while, and Skyrim. Well, I absolutely loved New Vegas even through it's crashes and bug outs. I hope they continue making these games better and better.

Most importantly is variety. Now I'm not faulting Oblivion - it's awesome, but there was only like 4 templates each for Ruins, Forts and caves. Fallout has added a massive variety to locales with mini quests and backstories, I really hope I see the same thing from Skyrim to keep things fresh and interesting.

Same, but this one looks like an great improvement over the first. I hated the way combat worked in the first and I never understood how big the game became, hence why I didn't play it. But the second one looks like they scrapped the way combat and etc worked as in the first. That's why I'm interested.

While I do agree that Oblivion is, by far, the best fantasy RPG ever, I don't think that it makes other "lesser" RPGs any less enjoyable. I loved playing Dragon Age Origins, The Witcher, and many others. I don't think games have gotten to the stage that movies and music have, where the stuff they make nowadays just can't compare to the classics.

Actually, it's not true that Oblivion is the best. Morrowind with mods is the best, even better than Oblivion with mods. There are mods for Morrowind that improve the graphics and gameplay to Oblivion standards. With the improved gameplay and the game's far more unique and interesting setting and story, it is, in my opinion, better than Oblivion.

i just liked the feel of morrowind. it was all hazy and completley alien like out of this world and the colors were picked out really well for the game, its all like yellowy orange/grey washed out and stuff. really nice style of the whole world and it felt all raggedy and anarchistic being that its ruled by factions who always fight. and dunmer in MW were totally badass with their raggedy voices and face tatoos and ashneder clothing which was really cool (oblivion ruined dunmer forever ) it was kinda like wild west in a way

Oblivion was all nice clean lushy and green. The capital of the empire is much smaller than i expected and where are Cyrodils armies?? i an still questioning why cyrodill, being the ruler of the whole continent,- an empire that conquered nations couldnt find an army to fight off the oblivion invasion and i had to beg every city to give me a spare pair of city guards. seriosly whatsup with that? in morrowind imperial guards had forts all over the place and they dressed in really cool armour that made them look like romans or something.

When i played morrowind i thought Wow Tamrielic empire must be powerful then i played oblivion and was like wow... this is the capital of the mighiest empire???? why does their armour suck so much compared to morrowind imperial guard. and seriosly the whole province of cyrodill feels sortof behind the times even from morrowind. and the city of cyrodill was the biggest dissapoint, i always imagined it and a huge epic city.

really looking forward to skyrim

I completely agree. Morrowind had that harsh "wild west" atmosphere, whereas Oblivion was always too bright and cheery. It looks like Skyrim is a return to that kind of rugged frontier atmosphere that Morrowind had.

In the Roman Empire, they called anyone not from Italy a "barbarian". So if The Empire in TES is supposed to be like the Roman Empire, then it would actually make sense to think "barbarian" when talking about Morrowind, which takes place outside of the homeland of The Empire.

Yes, I am that much of a geek.

But about the trailer. i just realised that this is by far... very far the most awesome trailer of the entire elder scrolls series

I personally think that it's the best trailer I've ever seen both in movie and game industry. Might be just my biased opinion because of the remixed Morrorwind tune but still

How is it even possible, that I get goosebumps and shivers and everything possible brain malfunction everytime the Dragonborn shouts the spell and music starts to play? This is the 200th time

I also found a funny comment in the comments xD

The shout sounds like some swedish sentence: "Du ska dö!" which means "you shall die" Pretty fitting in my opinion haha.

Oh yes! They have pretty nordic architecture and all these giant stone structures the dragons sat on make me hope that they tried to give the player some unique feel of the environment again. (like the oriental / alien feel in morrowind).

Oblivion was a nice game, but it felt synthetic. The whole country (tamriel) felt far too small. The empire like a joke and the Oblivion dimension like a holyday island to me.

I have to add that I find Dragon Age a much better RPG.

Yeah,I noticed from the very first screenshots that the setting look a lot like Finland without the epic mountains, valleys and dragons.

I agree, Oblivion is the weakest from the three latest installments. The game was pretty good and all, but overall it didn't feel like a TES game.
