Hello, i'm wondering if its possible to get a similar effect to Bad company 2 where when you fire your gun, your screen shakes/tilts somewhat..is this possible using scripting?

Hmm, there is an AirMod command called "camshake= X"
Maybe you could create a script with that command that makes the screen shake whenever you press the left mouse button
I can't do it though. I suck at scripting...

Thanks for the reply! Unforunantly My scripting skills are about 10 percent because i am still learning, could anyone tell me how to implement this command "camshake= X"? it sounds like it would go into gunspec...

You would need project blue or fenix mod for the 'click left mouse' condition

However the problem is , the camshake command is not really suitable for what you want.The effect is not meant for weapons and will not look good at all.

And no,it doesn't go in gunspec.It goes in a script in a triggerzone.

You'd also need to check if the player is holding a certain type of weapon and if it has ammo in it...

So to sum it up its not possible to have smooth camera shake when firing a weapon?

I just wanted to make the multiplayer combat feel more Intense

Even worse,you want it integrated in multiplayer?

No,not possible to have a smooth camera shake,especially in multiplayer,as you can't use scripts there.

Your best bet would be to use recoil, as this effectively "shakes" the camera.

I believe that in lewis' alpha project his crowbar moves the screen when its 'shot' although I don't know how its done and if he or EAI did it.

You could maybe add an animation that is activate when you press the left mouse button in turn the animation would be to shake the gun and make it appear as if the camera had been shook.

signatures are dumb.....
idk why....

screenshake ? what the hell people ?

you might wanna just use the normal recoil settings

recoily = 15
recoilyreturn = 100
recoilx = 7
recoilxreturn = 100

perfect screenshake effect recomended for an 5.56 assault rifle.

recoil: make the weapon move the camera up, down, left, right.

y: vertical camera movement, uses distance measure count

x: horizontal camera movement, uses distance measure count

recoil-return : be carefull here, the return ratio it's not counted as a measure of distance but as a porcentage ( % )

it means that if the recoil is a count of 45, the recoilreturn defines the return porcentage of the camera movement, 100% means full return to the same poin the camera has left, meaning that if the camera moved 45 the camera'll return 45 if the recoil-return is setted has 100.

now, why those settings above makes a perfect screenshake gendestroier ?

simple, has the return porcentage of both of the directions is 100 percent, the player ''would appear to be trying to control'' the weapon's recoil, creating a screenshake effect

recomended for an shotgun

recoily = 200
recoilyreturn = 100
recoilx = 75
recoilxreturn = 100

you might wanna put less than 100 %, let's say 85 % 90 % ?

mods for creating a inteligent game,at least
