Could someone tell me where I can find some tutorials for stuff like: lives, levels, and drawing my own sprite. I need a bunch of stuuf for my first ever game, and I need a lot of help because I am still a beginner and the tutorials didn't relly help me much with actual games, just saying stuff on the screen in different ways.

Thanks

Hmm... lives and levels would most probably be controlled by a variable, or an array. If your a beginner, then that might not make any sense, but anyways... it should get you started, or maybe you could rephrase your question?

Ok, I'm trying to make kind of a lunar lander lander game with a couuple different levels, in which I increase the gravity, and a UFO looking ship to fly around, but I have no clue how to do most of it because the tutorials didn't really say anything about that kind of stuff.
Is there a tutorial anywhere that tells how to make what the level should look like?

Man! You got real specific there, didn't you?
That's why there's no tutorials, because you're being too specific!
Instead of looking for how to make a UFO looking ship to fly around, look for object loading and movement. As for the levels, there's a few ways to do it. Actually, there's a LOT of ways to do it. If you need help making the actual levels, a nice and easy point and click application called Magic World is available in the 'downloads' section, I think. That should definitely help alot.

I must say, its good that you have planned out your game before just diving in and going all out without any real goal... (like i did)

But PoHa!84 is right, you need to learn each component and then put it all together to make the game.

You cant just find a tutorial that will basically hand you a finished game and expect to be able to understand what it all means.

Start from the simple things like the "Hello World" tutorials (these can become quite valuable later on) and work your way up and when you understand how to make a working game (no matter how shocking it is) then you can worry about things like makeing your levels and the like...

Yup, it's that link again...

http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?f=db_tutorials

There is a lot of information packed into these tuts. Even if they are not similar to your game, you will learn a lot from them.

@Rich: These tutorials seem to be hidden well from newcomers to the site. Is there any way to make them a bit more obvious? Perhaps something as simple as a Sticky topic in the Newcomers forum.
