You have to pay for copyrights... if you have a lawyer or the like, talk to him/her and find out what must be done, if not, research it on the net..

There are all different types of copyrights out there, some cost a dollar a month, some millions a year (an exageration, i know), just depends on what you want...

But there is also Intellectual Property, which is just a given that if you created something original, then you own that idea... and if anyone copy's the idea, then thats infringeing on your copyright, but that doesnt cover against piracy and that...

Hope I Helped...

Copyright doesn't cost you a penny! But you need to understand what copyright actually menas. By authoring anything, you become the copyright owner. This is different from owning the idea. An idea cannot be copyrighted, presentation of an idea can.

What costs money is protecting your copyright if anyone should infringe it.

Intellectualy property causes problems, it is very difficult to prove ownership of intellectual property. This can extend to concepts and algorithms in software.

Patents cost money. You can patent a computer program that contains nothing original. It is the unique combination of the elements that allows you to patent it.

Trademarks also cost money. This is how you brand your version of a more common concept, object or piece of art.
