i want it to ask the users what you want P1Up button and P1Down button, and P2 etc. how will i go about doing that

take whatever button they press and remember it

By users do you mean the moderators or the users of DB?
Either way, did you look at the examples? I think it's input ex 24 that I always look at. very useful.
