Hey peoples!
What's up with the object collision commmands? In my programs, I never can get it to work right. Either the controlled character walks right through walls or he gets stuck in one. Wassup wit dat?

Hey PoHa!84, if you included some source code, we could see where you went wrong

So, is this your new project then? A Game? or is this a long standing question you've been meaning to ask but never got around to it...

Anyway, Hope I Helped...

Long standing question, actually. Therefore, I have no source code. I've tried manipulating the example programs, but they all did as I described, even though I didn't touch the object collision stuff. Strange? I THINK SO!

Hmmm, interesting...

Well, try putting this in: (im thinking off of my feet here, so it may not work...)

That should stop the character from walking through walls and stuff (it will cause him to stop moving though, because it isnt sliding collision, so you'll have to back him up a bit...)

Hope I Helped...

THAT's exactly what I'm talking about! I did that code for my first game, (actually i was just playing around, you know, but anyways...) and it made the alien-mutant get stuck inside of the object I set up. I tried all sorts of different codes and no better. Wassup wit dat? Maybe it was something else I did... I was a newb then, so I could have had all sorts of really stupid mistakes in it, and not known. Hmmm... maybe I should try and find that old file...

You need sliding collision to stop it from gettin stuck on objects... It's DBC's inbuilt collision that stuff's up... it isnt designed to cater for sliding collision so you have to make collision boxes or something like that

Here is a good example (You'll notice its actually a DB help file, hehe):

Hope I Helped...

Yeah, I did look at that. But like I said, the reason I was having trouble was probably because it happened when I had just started using it. Hmm... probably shouldn't have posted this question... makes me look a little stupid...

Nah, its cool, we thought you were stupid to start with...

Just Kidding...

Think of it this way:
If you never ask questions and you never try to sort out your problems (by getting help from others) no matter how small... Then how are you meant to learn? How are you meant to create original works if you cannot learn?

Asking questions is a good thing...

Err... right, but still, I asked a question w/o the source code, without making sure that any little bug or something was wrong with it, or without trying to go back and fix the problem now that I know a lot more about Dark Basic. I'd call that pretty stupid if you asked me...
