I'm working with blender (2.56 and 2.40) and i am having problems trying to figure out how to start modeling. Can anybody give me a tutorial on how i should start please?

I think your in the right place. Im not sure about tuts for 2.5x... they should have some available... i would check out blender.org first.. they have a tutorials section that has links to the blender wiki and other areas. They are you best bet. Other then that search youtube for blender tutorials. There are a number of them on there as well.

Like PrimalBeans said, the Blender website tutorials section offers a good set of tutorials for beginners to the advanced. Then I'd check out the Blender Cookie and the Blender Guru websites, as well as the blender section of the CGtuts+ website. It also helps to just search the internet, there are a lot of good tutorials out there.
