Well... I like the singers from: The Arctic Monkeys, Electric Six, Slug from Atmosphere, Jet, My Chemical Romance, Spoon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, The Strokes, RATM, Streetlight Manifesto, Muse, Flobots, Weezer, and the White Stripes. (yes, I mean that each of them individually brings something new, unique, and awesome to the table)

However, my favorite singer (winning by a fair bit, and that's saying something considering all the bands above are amazing), is the person from Cold War Kids:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rfDvpfC2bw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrrGKR8Xii4&ob=av2em
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAB3sxFEAl0

It's not that he's the best singer, but the most powerful, because of the emotion conveyed, and the variety in music! Rock/alternative with a touch of the old-oldies.

My close-second favorite singer would have to be the strokes guy.

James Mercer from The Shins, do doubt.
Two of my favorites by them, both off of Wincing the Night Away:

Judging by the music that's already been posted, it's a little out of place, but my favourite singer is Sam Carter from Architects, if you listen to it, give it a chance. :p

Brandon Flowers (The Killers) have some real amazing vocals. Also Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) have a unique voice that I totally dig, then we've got Seal, whew that guy have the most soothing voice I've ever heard.

I think Bjork has an interesting vocal style, although people either love or hate her. I know that she can sing at a concert for hours and still be pitch perfect.

Also, Mike Patton of Faith No More has a pretty awesome voice:

I saw Evanescence when they first came out, and while Amy Lee sounds good, she's a bit overrated.

I'll second Bjork, but it all depends on which song she's singing. She's got a few where I just wanna shove a sock in her mouth.

Jon Crosby (Vast)
Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)
Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave)
Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog)
Elizabeth Fraser (various Massive Attack tracks)
Siobhan de Mare (Mono, Violet Indiana)

Indeed it is, his "heroic" voice kinda fit with the corny lyrics too.

Im not Five Finger Death Punch's biggest fan, but the singer Ivan Moody (a.k.a Ghost) is a good singer.

I second that. Tragically, all my favourite singers are dead

e.g. Freddy Mercury, Phil Lynott, Marc Bolan, Kirt Cobain, Michael Hutchence; all huge talents, all cut off in their prime.

Yeah, I realized that a few days ago. I'm also missing a few others, like Scott Weiland and William Duvall.
