Hey, noticing the nvidia help forums didn't seem to have much people helping out i thought it would be a good idea to post this here instead

My computer (Toshiba Qosmio x300) has been complaining that the graphics card is outdated (Geforce 9700M GTS) and that it needs a driver update.

So i went over here http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-266.58-whql-driver.html and downloaded the driver.

So after updating and restarting everything seems fine, i adjust the video color settings a little and then close the nvidia window. But now every time i try to do something, the computer often freezes for a few seconds or lags a lot, for example Skype chat windows usually take about 5 seconds to open, and when i open Minecraft in fullscreen it starts lagging extremely. Other games also lag, for example Amnesia (which doesn't even start).

So what should i do here? I have no idea what is wrong, and i don't know how to fix this problem.

If you need more computer specs or info then just ask

Sounds like your computer might have reverted to a generic driver, which would cause slowdowns like those described. Not sure why (or if) it would do that, but that's just a guess.

try uninstalling all drivers then reinstalling only the latest ones?

instead of downloading drivers from nvidia, you should try dowloading them from toshiba webste. look around the site there should be a drivers/downloads section somewhere with a list of all of their notebooks. find your notebook model, and you should have the correct drivers. i am not sure if that driver would be updated to the latest version but this is something you should try. notebook graphics cards are a little different in every notebook so the driver from nvidia site might be compatible with some more generic type of your videocard or mxm cards. Drivers on the notebook manufacturers website always work assuming you picked the correct model and also assuming your notebook isnt one of those that has slightly different parts in it than the official version of that model. 9in that case good luck finding drivers!

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them
