I am hoping that from those of you with more experience can recomend a 3D rendering program that will let will let me take high resolution snap shots?

I am trying to cut down my poly count and want to use render snap shots to create billboards just for those elements that are out of reach but still just within view.

Recomendations?

I am mainly using 3DWS and Ac3d for my modeling.
