I got an invite, but don't have time for the beta. I am thinking of giving the beta key to a friend.

dark spore? someone remade spore with darkbasic?

I felt Spore started to fail in gameplay once you got to the space age. There was just too much going on and it became confusing very quickly.

So what's different about this game and the original spore?

In Beta for the first two weekend play periods. Now my 9800 Gx2 "3D Acceleration" part is totally fried/broken I assume from overheat. This older computer can't handle it.

The graphics/sound/music are top notch. It's sort of like torchlight without random levels. The creature customization is fun.

though i rather want a non-dumbed-down-spore than this, but this looks like an interesting idea..

i just played it.
its nothing like spore. its a third person game.
Its hard to explain and its kinda fun, but at the same time more casual than i would of wanted.

DarkSpore, from what I gather, is essentially Spore meets Diablo. How valid of a statement is that?

thats what it looks like... they have a ton of vid on youtube... honestly if you ask me it looks kind of boring.... but maybe thats me and how im interpreting the video and comparing it to actual gameplay. Im kind of into the whole creature thing... but i like the ai evolution thing myself... I was a huge fan of b & w 2... that was a little less boring to me... (for a while anyway..)

If anybody wants to try this beta out, the MAXIS team just sent me 3 beta keys to give away. The next 3 posts asking for them I will send one to your email address. I'll keep checking here today if anybody is interested.

Next beta period will be Noon PST March 4th to Midnight PST March 6th

I would still participate in it but my better computer's video card is toast. :/

I gave my key to a friend who loved Spore. I never really saw the appeal. I get all betas from EA, so it's really not a big deal to me.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I just got my key yesterday, it's downloading now.

Ugh, so I'm guessing this 200+ MB file I downloaded was nothing but an installer? That's a tad ridiculous. I tried running the game and now it's downloading 2.8GB of stuff. I hate these web installers (google's too).

Looks like you can only play the game on the weekends, they close the servers during the week. I can't play til Friday So I take it this is a multiplayer only game.

spore was bust... honestly... the game turns into war craft after the ceature stage... I love up to the creature stage... after that it gets boring. This seems a far cry from the the creature stage that made spore fun. btw... whats everyones fav spore class... im an omnivore fan... anyway...

I just had my first go, and I enjoyed it... but... I'm not sure I could play much more of it than I already did... I think I was expecting too much from it

I played for a few hours friday, but then the internet was out all weekend. Figures.

I liked the game, but the levels are just too empty. There's not enough to do. So while it's fun at first, I can see myself getting bored real quick. I haven't tried the PvP yet, I wanted to level up a little first.
