Hey there guys. Its been an age, but i've finally produced something worth downloading. Its only 4.6 MEG, and probably in my opinion the first true 3D platformer made in DBpro. There is still a substantial amount of work to do, but its a matter of bringing elements together now. Special thanks to Kensupen and Lokidecat for the original collision code which can be located in the code sniplets section. Cheers everyone.

It was very good. I think the movement takes a bit too long to get going - maybe it could be speed up to mario speeds?

WHAT A GREAT PROFESSIONAL GAME!
The acceleration is a bit slow though. Jumping on springs is hard to control too. I think you jump on a spring but turn to slowly to control the jump, then the acceleration during jumping is also confusing.

Way to slow, I only got 30 FPS on my machine, even with sync rate at 0 controls were a bit off, and did gravity work (I went into the area above the water 5 times and gravity just held me up.) other than that, it was very good.

Edit: Just a suggestion, but how bout new music? Like this one from Sonic Adventure 2

Very nice - Get a constant 60fps. Obiously a lot of work still needed for movement and collision but a very good start nonetheless.

LOOKS COOL, IT IS COOL, but got one tip for ya, break you level down in as many objects as you can and only check collision with an object if you're close to it cuz the intersect object commands eats a lot fps. and as mentioned the water-gravity bug, but it's still a beta so GREAT JOB YOU DID!!!

fps: 47

FPS - 35
Good, very good. However, Sonic seems to move slower than mario. Otherwise, the engine looks great. Perhaps sonic being able to slow himself down in a jump would be nifty (pressing the down key).

looks great plays ok for a beta version.
53+ Frames per sec at both 60 sync and 0
I got this sound error when i went over the speed thing it just kept reapeating or it might be just bad luck that made it happen.

Did you actually make the sonic model? Or did you rip it out of an old dreamcast ssonic game?

Hey, i'm really glad everyone likes it.

Quote: "The acceleration is a bit slow though. Jumping on springs is hard to control too. I think you jump on a spring but turn to slowly to control the jump, then the acceleration during jumping is also confusing."

I've improved the speed and movement 5 fold now so it plays allot faster (means I have to redesign some of the stage though ).

Quote: "as mentioned the water-gravity bug, but it's still a beta so GREAT JOB YOU DID!!!"

The waterbug will remain in place untill i've got a death thing going, but I need it for excessive testing, u know lol.

Its homegrown my friend, uses mesh deformation.

I've got to implement baddies and stuff now. If anyone wants to help me with design levels, some of the code etc, then by all means please drop me a line. I really need team support now lol. Cheers all.

well i get 20fps on it... oddly if i turn FSAA6xS AF8x TS on, i still get 20fps.

so i think the speed of the demo has alot more to do with the processor than the graphics card
But even then i've got a Duron 800mhz, maybe not the fastest CPU but surely should be able to handle that easily

OK, my mistake it does work, but needs some smoothing out. Very good graphically I think, the sgrass texture needs some work, also I think Sonic should be able to walk backwards. I could try and help with the collision code if you want, I'd be more than happy to try and help .

excelente code m8. Just a few questions:

1- With what program did you make the map? and in what format? is it in directX?

2- That model of sonic is.. well.. fantastic.. once again what was the program to do the model and animate it and how many polys?

3- I hope you continue to work on that because its really great
