Make it Windowed Full Screen and it'll run faster (If you're in Dark Basic Pro that is). Well, in my case, it always has.

You get better performance + some commands work best with full screen (you can do alpha screen fading, which is done in ED between scenes)

I like this second menu best. Might I recommend you making the sword smaller though. Because you've got a wonderful outside shot, so you don't wanna hog it up with the sword. Just make the sword maybe 2/3 or 1/2 the size it is now.

Item system looks great.

I have to say I'm mighty impressed by those two scenes.

(You still using mat-edit? none the less, looks good.

RPGamer: i like the first menu best to it the way you get a good view of the open sea and star filled sky it realy set the a mood. but when will we see a working demo of it. ED geting like HL2 evey one whats to play it but all we ever see are screen shots.

Dr O- Were working on it like mad. Unfortunatly, we have had many set backs (like HL2), for example, we had to redo a lot of media due to the use of pirated software, and we waited 4 months for a texture that ended up being not able to be used. We still need the main char textured and animated, then we can push forward.

Not that I'm complaining for nothing, but for how many months of recruiting people, the screenshots are kinda lame... They should look presentable. And as much as possible, the graphics must look like FFX or something.
Try to make some blurry or light effects to make the graphics look flashy (ex. lens flare of the sun). and make the shadows and/or shades darker to look more realistic.
The menu... I have no suggestions.....
Always compare your projects/games to the professional made games, and you'll know the difference, and you'll improve.
If you always think that their better than you, think that "If they can do it, why can't we?"

I like the second one, but you should use the font of the third one(added later), and you should change the sword.
Great work.

im guessing with all the talk about your game and all the stuff i've heard about it it prolly plays well, but that looks pretty poor graphics wise. need to spruce it up.

I havent said anything graphics wise. All this time I have been trying to get graphics artist, but no one would join, so I took the burden upon myself to do ALL the media. Im not a good graphics artist, but we dont have anyone else that can do the job. I have posted multiple times, but no one joined. I cant do anything about it.

I know the graphics arent that good, but why focus on graphics? Gameplay is SO much more important. With all the pages of dev documents we have, I'll tell you what, gameplay WONT be a dissapointment.

Quote: "the graphics must look like FFX or something."

As much as I would like them to look like FFX, its just not going to happen. The nearest I have seen to FFX art skills here is Simple, and he is working on his own project. If everyone wants to see this project so much better, why doesnt anyone help

If anyone thinks they can do better graphics for this project, please email me because we would be very greatful if anyone would help.

We have had playable demos. The thing is, they used spheres and boxes and stand in media. I didnt release them knowing everyone would say that the graphics suck. Please learn to C&C. "The Graphics suck" is the worst C&C you can give. Tell me how I can make it better, and I will.

Brent - Where are ya man! I need your Critique SKILLZ!!! No one else knows what they are talking about!

Only C&C so far:

Better Shadows : (its being worked on)
Lens Flare : Sorry, not for this scene. I thought about it but the camera doesnt move, so it wouldnt work out so well

i do`t think the Graphics are that bad. but

the matrixs will look better if you set its normals.
the textures need some work.
and it needs better Lighting (a DIRECTIONAL LIGHT will do).

hope this is more help full then just saying the Graphics are bad.

You could use the sprite alpha commands to ade between scens without having to go through black / white?

Well RPGamer. You did ask where I was. And here I am.

Ok..let us begin.

The Title Art. Daz is on to something here. Keep what he has done. You could safely leave out the BG in the Title Screen at the top of the page. I keep playing with how it would look in my head and it seems that the BG could be removed without any loss. Removing the BG makes the Title Art the focus. This could be a good thing.

Regarding your Item menu....err um. It appears to be a gray box with a chain border..the border isnt much of a border. I'd suggest making the Borde outline the box. Or find another way to make the box interesting.

It would also be nice if you could post some of the sounds or music. Right now only one sense is being assualted. Thatsense is Sight.

All in all, it appears that ED is moving along. I furthermore suggest that you use the above Title screens as mere place holders.
Your skills as an artist will improve as time goes on. When this game is finished you'll be far better then you are right now. I've found this out much to my chagrine. When I fix tried to created a human face I worked my ass off for nearly a week. I got incredibly sh*ty results! A few months later I could do it in 3 hours, and get decent results.(youve seen them.)

Keep up. And post more sceenies!

I'd help, but I'm quite busy, but maybe I can do a favor.

(its funny, when I'm on a team, I couldnt care less about the work, but when someone asks for a favor, I do it as soon as possible and it always comes out better )

I was refferring to everything. Ocean and Sky. Try it out, see how it looks.

Also maybe put some sort of decorative box around the "New Game etc"
options.

Or you could give use the symbolic meaning of the background and how it relates to the story. Then We'll decide if it stays!

Oh... Sorry, RPGamer. I just thought you already have a ton of staff. I even thought of you being the producer and the director and your staffs are about 10 to 20.

But still try the graphics, they're the eye-catching of the game. But if you'll gonna work on the graphics and at the same time the gameplay, no one will deny your work.

Try to play your favorite game and just stare at every unnoticeable object/effect of it. If you saw an effect which you don't know how to do it, think of a way, try to do it on DBPro. there's nothing impossible if you saw one already. That's what I'm doing on Zone of the Enders: Second Runner. I even already know how the lights were done (I made one on DBPro), but very slow (10-20 Fps, still improving).

Brent - Ya but I have no art skillz so it would end up looking crappy It highlights each thing when you switch to it.

Mach- I do have a large staff, just no one keeps in contact me (cept a few people) so they arent very dedicated...

I want this game to be as graphic stunning as the rest of you, but right now I just dont have the media skill

Good title screen. I sort of imagine the selected option to gleam, as though a light were moving over it. I'm not sure how hard this would be with sprites, probably have to make an image for each frame.

Moonshine: Its array based math collision. All data of objects is stored in arrays, and when array data conflicts, collision happens using old values.

Hamish: Hmm, maybe like a little particle emitter flying around the sprite? That may look good...dunno. Ill see what I can do for 'glowing' effects in PSP, but the problem is DBP doesnt like gradient transparencys

Dont worry about not having the skill. The skill comes throught effort. The internet is full of tutorials. Search and learn!

I like the second one best. The dark colors really make the atmosphere nice. Everything flows together well.
Plus, I think the purple is a very dynamic color for that scene. The blue is also good, though if I were Daz,(or whoever edits it) I would darken the bottom left corner so that fence doesn't distract from the title. Overall, I'd still go with the purple layout.(unless ED has a blue theme going.)
