I dunno if anyone here reads the blogs on xkcd.com (Oh wait, sorry, blags*)

There's a blog post with charts and info on the topic. One is by the author of XKCD, another is by a friend of his, who works at a nuclear reactor.

Also, has anyone in the US heard of the not-so-smart people poisoning themselves with iodine tablets to \"save themselves from radiation\"? xD
