So I tried logging into hotmail and it says my account is blocked. If I want to access any other account on hotmail, you can't because it'll just auto-forward you from the login page to the warning page with no way of signing out. (without clearing cookies of course)

And the only way to unblock it? Enter your cell number so they can send a confirmation. Lame!

And apparently they store this number for future use and there's no way to change it as far as I can tell. It's not store in your typical settings. Good to know if I want access to someone's account, all I have to do is get it blocked, attempt to login again, then enter my own cell to gain access. Real secure.

There used to be ways of blocking someone by continuously logging in to their account (via a bot of course),while this process occurred the user was unable to login, and for a prolonged period of time thereafter I think - though I doubt this is what is causing your troubles.

My GMail got blocked after I signed on using various different IPs, it saw this as malicious activity and blocked it until I could verify it was me - similar thing perhaps?

Well the odd thing was Yahoo IM wouldn't let me sign in, said my account was blocked. I know my passwords! But I had it reset and so I had to login to Hotmail, that's when I noticed it was also blocked (different passwords). I closed YIM and re-launched it, it auto-logged in like it normally does, never reset the password either.

IM accounts are also blocked for flooding - again an action carried out by bots - again your level of competency would suggest this is not the case either. You've got me stumped!

Considering both accounts are roughly 15 years old and probably still the original passwords, I could believe they were hijacked. However, both on the same day I find unlikely when they use separate passwords. Oh well, it's all been sorted out.

Id say they might be highjacked. My friends AIM account was highjacked which was made 10 years ago which hasnt been in use for many years. Now his account sends me stuff like "hey you wont believe it i just got a free Ipad! they are giving him away for free at this site all you have to do is fill out this servey here. click this link and get one before they run out!" but latley i am getting these bots who "want to have fun" and send you to these webcam websites.

Or it may be possible that your government or ISP blocked hotmail for one reason or another if you live in china or something. a while ago russian FSB (government security agency) proposed to block hotmail, gmail and skype because they cant monitor them because of their encryption and they feel like its a national security issue. Fortunatley that proposal was denied.

My question to you: Why are you still using Hotmail anyway?

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Because I've been using hotmail for over a decade and I have endless accounts associated with it, such as my equally old yahoo account. It's just my spam email box anymore, I only check it when I'm expecting something.
