I've got a few of these emails recently. They're either blank, or come with one random line of characters. It seems to coincide with my app downloads sky rocketing. Because of that, I'm concerned that these might be actual customers, and somehow the emails are coming through corrupted, but my first assumption was spam. But if it's spam, why is there no content?

Here are a few examples:

Anyone think they're anything other than failed spam?

are the e-mails sent through anything special? anything you coded, like through your ap or a form on your website?

Also, congrats on skyrocketing sales. That game looks awesome in all the videos I've seen of it b][/b]D

Tell me if there's a broken link to images in a thread I post, and I'll fix 'em.

They're from google addresses, and there are no forms in my app or anything, so they're being sent from something else. I'm guessing spam bots, or something. I found a website which suggests they're spam, and suggests reporting them, so I found a google form which allows me to report googlemail misuse. Google probably won't do anything but at least I tried!

Thanks for the congrats too. It's more luck than anything though. I got featured on the marketplace, and that's all down to google employees who choose which apps to feature. Before that happened, the sales had pretty much dried up! Hopefully when it drops off the feature list, it will have been well enough received to climb the charts and keep ticking over. Currently I'm getting either 5* or 1* ratings. People either love it, or hate it.

My girlfriend was having a similar issue. Nearly the exact same type of emails.

They seemed to be returned emails sent from her email , I had her email all of her friends to see if they have been recieveing spam from her email address. Haven't heard anything back yet.

Look at the mime-type. They're all "multipart/alternative". Might be a clue there.

I think that's a very common mime-type. It's normally for emails that are sending a HTML format as well, but the content is still blank. I've done a load of googling, and have turned up a lot of links saying it's spam, and a lot of links saying google sometimes sends blank messages, and others saying the emails may not have been decoded properly.

So I'm a bit screwed! I either don't reply, and risk ignoring customers, or reply and risk opening up my email addy to masses of spam.
