Hi all,

I hope someone that is also using 3D Studio Max 5.1 can help me export animated 3DS files to DarkBasic Pro.

I imported the competition alien and changed the animation to what I need... Then exported as a 3DS file again and loaded in DarkBasic... The texture works, and the mesh looks good too, but the animation lost it's composite... The character's arm moves different from what it looks like in Max... I think there is something wrong with the limbs... but I didn't touch any of that... all I did was delete the key frames and re-animated... I also tried importing the original alien model and export without any changes and the samething... The animation goes crazy when I play it in DarkBasic Pro.

I tried everything... I disabled the filters in MAX (IK parameters, position, rotation, scale) one by one and re-animated the model but similar results or worse...

I can create simple animation like making a ball bounce... or rotating the tire of a car... but when I link a few objects together to create the limb for the arm of a character and add animation to it... the animation plays fine in 3D Studio Max, but goes crazy when played in DarkBasic Pro...

I installed a plug-in from microsoft MSDK that should've allowed me to export animated X files from MAX... but that didn't work... The mesh was ok, but no texture or animation...

What did I do wrong? I payed a lot of money for 3D Studio Max 5.1 and I can't get anything to work... I hope there's a solution so that I don't have to buy another program like gmax or less...

I just downloaded gmax... looks like a simpler form of 3D Studio Max Release 3... But I can't export X files or 3DS... where can I download a plug-in to do that?

Any help is appreciated... Thanks in advance...

Go here and download the Pandasofts DirectX Exporter at:

http://www.pandasoft.demon.co.uk/directxmax4.htm

This is the only exporter I found that can export Animation (including bones!), Texture, and Geometry properly from 3D Studio Max 5.1 to DarkBasic Pro.
