What's up guys? I thought for my 100th thread i would make a thread that talks about which gaming console is the best!

Well i think the title says it all, what is you favorite console, be it the NES or the PS3 or a handheld or whatever, and why?

Just no flaming or anything of that particular nature. (i can see how this kind of thread may create that, and i do not want that to happen)

Also, refrain from debating too much please.

With all that said, my favorite console would actually be a four way tie between the NES, SNES, N64, and the NDS. I have never actually played an NES or SNES (shame on me, i know) but i have played the N64 and DS. I like the NES due to it's simplicity, i like the SNES dues to it's cool added features such as the Mode 7 or allowing the game cartridge to have its own processor (i think that's really stinking cool), and i like the N64 due to the fact that it was the first Nintendo console to incorporate genuine 3D rendering capabilities, and it runs Mario Kart 64, the best game on the planet. I like the DS because it has relatively nice graphics for being a handheld, it's comfortable to hold, and it runs the second best game on the planet: Mario Kart DS. Im not particular to the Wii at all--it's the most annoying console i have ever played! Im more of a person who likes to press buttons as opposed to moving the controller to control the game. Plus, the Wii has that weird Mi thing that kind freaks me out..

Edit:
The PC does count as a console, sorry i forgot to mention that earlier. I do like the PC the best, it's accessible to me (obviously) and is powerful, and has an absolutely enormous library of games to choose from!

Xbox 360. But it does look like PS3 is getting the better exclusives recently. Gran Turismo 5 I'm talking about.

But... We get Minecraft.

PC, Xbox, Wii

all dependant on the game really: FPS, 3rd person, role playing etc for PC, racing on Xbox/wii, arcady action on xbox/wii

bla bla bla, all depenant on the game.

and ofcourse, when it bottles down to graphics, then PC is unbeatable x) I also feel like i get a better experience all over on a PC, since its "dragging me in" better then when iam sitting 2 meters away from the screen

edit: also a thing that makes me prefer PC most is the flexibility: to have like 30 tabs open in Chrome, Skype open to chat, steam, spotify etc and game at the same time is just... mmmmh

and for the record, I am a man.

I do agree, the PC is the best; i forgot to mention that PC's do count as a console so i edited that into the OP.

Hmm? I made sure to mention flaming wasnt allowed on this thread... If flaming does begin, could i request to the moderators that the bad posts are removed as opposed to this thread getting locked please?

PC and PS3. Not a big fan of 360 though, no offence against the system, just not in my personal preference.

PC, PS1, N64. The Saturn was also pretty cool, especially with that little gem Panzer Dragoon Saga that few have played.

Thanks.

That's exactly 0.352112676056338 posts per day! That;s what MS Calc said anyway

But either way, it seems like a lot of people like the N64, that makes me better because i used to think i was the only one who like the N64.

PS2 and PS3.

PS2 -- I like the PS2 because of the incredible number of games -- some which have better gameplay (albeit limited graphics) than modern generation consoles. I think right now to SOCOM 2 and SNIPER ELITE as examples.

PS3 -- Bluray, free PSN, architecture that has been hard to hack, and hardware that doesn't often break down. These are the 4 aspects that sold me. Granted, SONY has had some network issues, but the PS3 is a great and reliable machine.

That's another reason i like the PS3, the exclusives are awesome, just about every PS3 exclusive is awesome, Killzone, LBP, Heavy Rain, God of War, Rachet and Clank, Gran Turismo, MAG. Every one of those games are incredible.

I'm an equal opportunity game player. I don't care what console it's on as long as it's fun! I do particularly like the 360 dashboard. I think of all the consoles (that incorporate such a feature) it is the most efficient. I love the classics on the NES, SNES, and N64. I love the innovation of motion control that the Wii implemented (when done well of course and it's not just a waggle fest, see Red Steel 2, Goldeneye, Battalion Wars, etc.)

PC will always remain paramount in my mind as the ultimate gaming platform, but at times difficult due to the price to keep upgrading as well as bugs and inconsistencies between hardware. PC is where I do all my RTS gaming still. Consoles have failed to interest me in this genre due to lack of decent input methods.

I'm stuck in between xbox 360 and PS3. Just because each have their own exclusive games.

But I admire the PS3 for it's durability... My friend was moving his upstairs, dropped it on hardwood floor from about 3-4 feet up... And whaddya know? It was still just fine. Well the wood was sort of dented, but y'know...

My father and I don't own any consoles, but I have played on an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3. I prefer the Xbox controller, it just feels more natural in my hands, the Playstation one is just too uncomfortable. But the Playstation has more exclusive games that look interesting to me.

But PC is better than either of them. Mouse and keyboard is the best input method ever. It actually pisses me off that so many awesome looking games are made console exclusive. I want to play Metal Gear Solid 4 so badly it hurts, but I can't because there's no PC version. I'd prefer a PC version of the game that is a poorly made port of the console version, rather than no PC version at all. I would love to play Gears of War, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, and a lot of others, but I'll never be able to.

Hail to the king baby
I love Evil Dead.

N64. It didn't break from poor hardware construction, and Zelda Ocarina of Time just happens to be my favorite game of all time! Just played through it again a few days ago. Without the N64, Zelda OOT may never have existed, and that would make me a sad panda.

PS2 because it had the Armored Core series, Quake 3, Ratchet and Clank, S.L.A.I. and some of my other favourite games on there. The new ones just suck.

As for the new consoles, I'm afraid I have no preference, my brother and dad have a PS3 which I love playing on (mainly LittleBig Planet 2 and Abe's Odyssee/Exoddus, also on our PSP) and my other brother and I have and Xbox and the only thing I enjoy on Xbox is Bulletstorm, BRINK and Quake Arena (tried Halo, Gears of War, Battlefield...they all suck ).

I'm probably more tied to my iPod Touch to be honest lol :/.

PS1 rocked, say no more I had countless fun playing Descent II and Omega Boost on it, oh how I miss it . It's neatly tucked away somewhere in my room, might dig it out to make my 6 weeks off decent .

I used to be a die hard Nintendo fan but after the Nintendo 64 I switched to be a die hard PS2 fan because the GameCube and Wii seem childish to me.

Yep, i like the gamecube though, it's graphics are amazing, better than the PS2's, that's for sure. Since the Wii though, i have turned off of nintendo, it's too underpowered, even though it's much younger than both the PS3 and 360. I've played the Wii, it's fun but just childish, they can do so much more with it than what they do. I really don't expect that much out of the Wii U either, just looks like the Wii with two screens, a camera, and better graphics. The console i'm looking forward the most to is the Playstation Vita (hate the name), it's the overall most impressive to me. it's feature set stands out the most. i was most amazed with this youtube video showcasing what the PSV can do with Unreal Engine 3. The features outdone the ps3 pretty good, for a halfway decent price too.

These are, of course, my opinion and i have no intention to start a console war. Just trying to keep peace here.

My choice: N64. Clearly my alltime favorite. The first great 3D experience, kind of ahead of its time tech (4 player support out of the box, analog stick, rumble pack, distortion-free 3D graphics that kicked the PS1 pixel mess in the butt), but most of all the undefeated arsenal of exclusive games: Zelda OOT, GoldenEye / Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Wave Race, Turok (2), Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, the list goes on and on...

I may have loved the PS1 but i'm afraid to say your right, haha, the PS1 had quite awful graphics for it's generation, N64's were superior.

@Phaelax
Uhh.... That's more of a phone than a gaming console does it at least have telephone capabilities?

@ Travis Gatlin:

I had a Colecovision that used the same kind of controllers that Phaelax showed on the Intelivison (the picture isn't mine I took better care of it ).

Some of the games had a plastic insert that slid into the controller over the keypad.

The cool part about the Colecovision was that the games looked exactly like they did in the arcade and it had a slot in the front for an Atari adapter so anybody that owned one could play both Colecovision games and Atari games. Before I stopped using it I think I had 20 Coleco games and about 80 Atari games.

ok i wish modern consoles had that retro design, Imagine how cool it would be if a PS3 looked like the thing above-Colecovision. or even better, I am a huge fan of old 1950s lamp-based radio tech , the ones that werein wooden cases. those looked awesome. Now imagine if all the modern tech, computers, monitors, consoles, even mobile-handheld telecommucation devices,(i think the kids call em cellphones or something these days ) it would be cool if all that stuff had that polished wooden finish. with cool designs and stuff.

I always liked the Dreamcast, that had better visuals than the PS2, and I think was the true 'next-gen' console back in the day. Unreal, Quake3, Re-Volt... amazing games for the DC. But the main reason why I liked it so much, was that it had a really strong emulation and homebrew scene, that made the console for me - playing emulated SNES games perfectly, an awesome port of Quake that IMHO put the PC version to shame.

I do like the GameCube, DS, original PSX, SNES etc. My favorite handheld has to be the Atari Lynx - I have a reasonable collection of games for mine now too. The Lynx was a trailblazing handheld, like the Dreamcast, it raised the bar to the point that competitors had to really think about what they could do next.

My least favorite console is the Saturn, I really detested that controller, and the way it was only about 60% of what the Playstation was. The only Saturn game I enjoyed was Tomb Raider - they did a really good version of it for Saturn.

For FPS's I think it's easier to use whatever you started with, I hear people saying that a mouse is better than a stick, but I've always played with a stick ( Having had a PS, PS2, then Xbox 360 ) and only recently I've got into PC gaming, and I find it a lot harder.

I wasn't a fan of the controller either, especially the poor quality of it which meant that eventually the d-pad would turn to crap and the buttons would stop working.

Possibly, but as for which device is objectively more accurate it has to be the mouse.

I like both, but te mouse is slightly better.

Is it me or is there significantly less diversity in modern games consoles? There's only four nowadays...well, apart from that Gizmondo that sucked, and that Brazilian one that was a reskinned PS2.
