Xbox and PS3 are practically the same, and the Wii just fails IMO.

It's terribly underpowered, the motion controls aren't capitalised on properly by the developers working for it, and the fun of the motion controls dies out once you realise you can whip everyone at Wii tennis by simply lying on a couch and flicking your wrist now and then.

Yeah, I've noticed we've had different opinions on a lot of things, I hope I haven't offended you at all, it's not my intention.

Pretty much what CG said about the wii.

the point of "wii sports (or any sports game on wii)" is in all honesty for YOu to make it fun: relying on the game to do it and you are playing it wrong.

tennis here for example: sitting in a sofa is boooring, standing up and actually moving is a hellofalot more fun.

I actually think ive had more fun total in wii sports, than any other "next gen console".
I used to play bowling every weekend sort of with my family, and boxing with my brother every now and then, golf was okay too.

also: who cares about graphics? I didnt buy Wii to play Battlefield the 4th generation, I bought it to play mario, zelda, SSBB and maybe some other 3rd parties if i had the chance to. And iam sure most other people didnt buy it for 3rd parties either.

and for the record, I am a man.

If I have to work to have fun with a console - it failed. The idea is I buy this device, I buy the peripherals and the games, and it creates fun things to do for a few hours or so a day.

I may as well buy a stick and play army men.

The Wii is a lot like the GameCube IMO - not for the distinct similarities in graphics etc, but the way it handles itself.
It has the same handful of awesome games, and the same shedload of cruddy games that embarass it.

I would kick a PS2 out of the way to make room for a GameCube back in the day - I played RE4 to death, I played Harvest Moon as if it was a religion, that game actually helped me get through a really bad breakup. Pikmin is a fascinating and challenging game too. Then you have the Marios and Zeldas. It's a little stable of awesome games keep the Wii afloat, just like they did with the GameCube. All of the Wii's potential and awesome are crammed into a small number of games, wheras on other consoles, that is spread out thinly over thousands. I have lost count of the number of 360 and PS3 games I've barely played - like GT5 - what an embarassment that game is, a totaly freakin joke - I got about 100 times more enjoyment and gameplay out of MarioKart than GT5.

Then there are party games to consider, which have a niche - Mario Party on WII is vital. I can't even name a party game for the 360 or PS3 that is even close to fun, never mind vital - in fact I can name 2 on the original XBox - Kung-Fu-Chaos and Fusion Frenzy. Both those games are great, funny, ideal 4 player games, which we just don't see the likes of any more. They made Fusion Frenzy 2 for 360, and it's a travesty.

For me, the Wii fills a gap, and I'm glad it's there.

I'm mainly an FPS gamer, so naturally it's PC>360>PS3>Wii.

I'll admit I think the Wii fails too, since to get the most fun out of it you need friends, and how many people have those things laying around these days?

I was joking, I don't think the Wii fails at all. It's a great party console with the right games, much more accessible than any of the other consoles. There are even some games that are fun to play alone, but I guess it doesn't have so many of these since the other consoles already cater to loners.

SNES: My favorite RPGs of all time are exclusive to it, and we can't forget Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid!

PS2: For having my personal favorite game of all time, Shadow of the Colossus. As well as Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Monster Hunter.

PS3: LBP1/2, MORE Ratchet and Clank, and maybe someday a remake of SotC. Ohh -- and WipeOut

Wii: Mario Kart and Virtual Console, 'nuff said.

My PC has to transcend all of the consoles, though, due to the flexibility it offers. And I refuse to play an FPS with a controller.

That just made my day. Glad to know I wasn't the only one.
I've been lovin the Rune Factory games more than HM, though. All the joys of HM games, packed with dungeon crawling and character advancement.

I have played pretty much every game valve has ever released (which, IIRC, are more or less all FPS games). I played Halo for the first time after it went to PC -- it was one of those games that I was obligated to hate due to the annoying amount of fans it had. Other FPS games include Amnesia, DOOM, FEAR, Mirror's Edge, annnnd a bunch of others I can't really think of right now.

[EDIT]

If my computer weren't on the verge of self-destruction, I'd probably be playing TF2, which I didn't get to play very much of after I got the orange box. Damn work and all that.

I have both PS3 and XB360, they are actually very different in my eyes. The PS3 is a brilliant machine (bar a rather weak wifi adapter), but apart from a few key titles such as Little Big Planet and Heavy Rain there's not much else going for it. PSN is awful; there is no sense of community, very little by way of game reviews and videos, chat and messaging is cumbersome and almost impossible to use during game play, transitioning between PS menu and game sometimes causes crashes or long delays.
The Xbox is loud (unless you install your games to the HDD) and slightly less powerful than the PS3 but aside from that I think it is the better console. XBox LIVE is a much more involved and rewarding experience. It's great to see so many indie games for a console.

It baffles me that PS3 provide PSN free of charge. They made the most expensive console ever and then support it with a second-rate network. I was quite happy to pay £40 for a years subscription to XBox Live and I'd happily do the same for PSN and I believe it would greatly improve the console.

If I had to pay to use PSN, I probably would have never gotten into LBP, or playing WipeOut online. I absolutely will NOT pay to play online. Given my schedule, I have no idea if/when I will ever BE online, thus I'd be running a risk of wasting my money on such an investment.

Sure, the network probably receives less attention than it would if we had to pay for it, but really... do they require that much money from everyone to keep the network alive? Obviously not. It's definitely not a certainty that their network would be better if they did charge for it, but I've not had any problems with their network thus far so I couldn't tell you if it needed an upgrade or not. Updates to the games/system download far faster than normal internet downloads for me... what more could I ask for?

Also... I don't think I could come up with a single game that I'd willingly pay to play online (bar an MMO... but I'm getting rehab for those, so I won't go into that )

Oh I never told you my favourite console!
For me it is the PS2, because I have the most fond memories of it and it has such a vast library of great games. I really liked its retro design too.
The SEGA Master System II comes a close second, I grew up playing on that thing.

Still going strong...for a ten year old game that is. Clocking around 300-500 people online normally.

I also own every Valve game. Because they're all either good, (L4D series), or binary-awesome, (everything else.)

I like them all for creating lifes current getaways ^^

(Secretly says [ PC ALWAYS AND FOREVER ] )

however my first statement is true nevertheless but the most affecting console has to be PS1 for bringing FFVII and FFT and Xenogears among many other great titles such as Legend of Dragoon and Jade Coccoon, Lunar SSSC, Castlevania SOTN, Legend of Legaia, Breath of Fire 3, Kagero Deception 2, Gex the Gekko, Tekken 3 and all the many more amazing inspirative titles and games and stories and gameplay that really made my desire to create games myself. nuff said

I have officially switched my favorite gaming platform to the iPod touch/iPhone, their 4th versions have rather amazing graphics, and there an endless number of great games that are free.

@MrValentine I thought i might as well tell you on this gaming console thread, i still want to take you up on your offer of you hosting a website for me as long as you are still ok with that, but i still wont need it quite yet.

Sweet man! Congrats to getting incorporated as well! I saw the printing tab on your site, what kind of printing will you do? I might be able to utilize your services for the B3, like maybe if you will print custom boxes i will use that for the console, or if you will print manuals i can also use those for the console.
