Aspartame? Don't get me going on this...
I would prefer cyanide!

I make serious coffee - so strong it wakes up the neighbors.

Ordinary standard coke all the way. That diet stuff tastes really plasticy and nasty.

Orangina is nice as well.

I love sodas.
But I should not drink them. They tear up my stomach like crazy always giving me extremely painful stomach aches.
But they're sooo goood

Dr. Pepper < Vanilla Coke < pepsi < coke=mountain dew voltage

Then there's stuff like Jarritos soda, root beer, or cream soda, but I don't know where those fit in, and I don't drink em often enough.

If we were to include other beverages, I'd have to add like three or four different brands of iced tea (Arizona iced tea? peace tea? sweet tea?)

Dang, its all a marketing thing. People are very capable of simply buying a water bottle and reusing it over and over--it's that simple, but people buy bottled water anyway. All the time i see a vending machine selling bottled water for a $1.20 and next to it is a water fountain; i almost never see anyone use the fountain....

You do realise it's because bottled water is supposed to be better for you? Instead of tap water which is usually filled with chemicals to kill bacteria.

But the water is so pure that chemicals from the plastic diffuse into the water from the bottle itself--would you rather drink chlorine or plastic? At my house i have well water so at least i dont need to worry about any bad chemicals.

Again, a victim of advertising. Do a little research on bottled water. Study after study has shown that bottled water is dirtier and has more bacteria than tap water. Plus, a large percentage of bottled water is tap water. Tap water is much more strictly regulated.

Tap water is treated. Bottled water is "filtered through layers of volcanic rock for pure volcanicity."

The AUP limits me on my real opinion of that, but it's along the lines of male cow excrement. I'm pretty sure water treatment does a better job than sandstone.

PLUS tap water has minor amount of beneficial chemicals that keep you healthier and better looking long before they kill you. (says the person who only ever drinks soda, iced tea, or water from the fridge which i'm pretty sure has a filter on it xD)

drinking bottles atm for ONE reason lol, we have this parasite in our "tap" (right?) water atm, and if we drink it we are at risk to become very ill for up to 2-4 weeks

however bottled water does actually taste better, also keeping water in the refrigerator - win

but usually i drink about 90% soda/day, which i know is very bad and stupid lol, atleast its better than coffee xD which tastes horrible

and for the record, I am a man.

I'm not sure any of these things apply to where I live. Regardless of whether it's true or not, I can't stomach tap water. It just tastes awful.

Chlorinated tap water does taste awful, i personally think Aquafina tastes worse however. I live in the mountains and thus i have tap water, which i think tastes awesome. I have heard before that well water is much better for you anyway.

Lol, this thread has turned from a 'what's your favorite soda' thread to a 'bottled water vs. tap water' thread.

Oh don't get me wrong, I hate tap water...well water in general. The water here in Anglia practically has bricks ground into it it's so bloody hard.

I always at least add squash to it. Drinking tap water is an emergency situation for me, but I feel exactly the same about bottled water. Just that if I can buy bottled water, I can buy juice which is better.

I can only drink a little bit of tap water after brushing my teeth because it masks the chlorine / flouride flavor. Tap water is horrible as well as being very unhealthy. It smells like a pool.

I always try to drink filtered water from my pitcher I keep in the fridge. Much better taste. It's crisp and refreshing.

As for pop, I can't stand diet pop. Initially it tastes about the same as regular pop, but if you wait for the aftertaste it's quite unpleasant. Also the fake chemical sugars are awful for you (yes, I understand that the high fructose corn syrup in regular pop isn't much better). I definitely prefer pop that uses pure cane sugar whenever possible! A good brand off the top of my head is Stewart's. It comes in glass bottles too. Win!

Best pop of all time hands down, however, is ice cold Dr.Pepper straight from the can!

Pepsi. Hot damn, Pepsi is amazing.

Quote: "Diet Pepsi
and Diet Coke...I'm not even kidding. I've yet to work out why they're different other than the marketing. They taste the same and have no sugar."

Literally the only difference is that Pepsi has lemon juice, Coke has orange juice.

Some people have allergies to the small amounts of formaldehyde generated (it is metabolized well, so no worry) by the digestion of aspartame. It can cause all sorts of weird stuff, so maybe you have allergic reactions to the formaldehyde. Again, they are safe levels of formaldehyde, even though you are reacting to them.

You know what's funny? I'm from the Netherlands, in Europe, and I love Coca Cola. I drink that stuff in unhealthy amounts - it's my form of coffee. People around me tend to wonder why I don't die due to sugar poisoning. That kind of guy, me.

A few months ago, I headed to GDC in San Francisco. First time in the States, I was all psyched and happy and looking forward to having a great time. We visited a breakfast in Downtown San Francisco and had some crepes and where everyone drank a coffee or juice, I ordered a Coca Cola.

The first sip destroyed my hope for having a good time.

It turns out them Americans drink Coca Cola with the sugar replaced with something called corn syrup. Now, corn syrup - as far as I'm concerned - is the equivalent of Satan himself as a food product. It tastes absolutely like herbal tea, instead of the synthetic sugary mess I want to drink, it sticks to your teeth and palate and I mean seriously what the hell America?

Some locals explained to me that if I wanted 'real' Coca Cola, I had to buy Mexican Coke - which sounds like a drug; it actually is Coca Cola imported from Mexico - it took me a few days to find a shop that sold 'em (and at exorbitant prices, mind you) - but I bought a dozen.

I had a pretty good time anyway, but next time I'm in the States, first thing I'm doing is stacking up on Mexican Coke.

But really, cola is the best thing in the world when watching movie's or when playing games. Way better than that dog piss they call redbull.

Mountain Dew, if that is not available, Classic Coke. I hate Pepsi's watered down taste.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

@ tha_rami:

Yeah it's high-fructose corn syrup that's in an annoyingly high amount of food here. Whenever a product requires sugar it's eventually replaced by the cheaper corn syrup. What has happened in America in the last 20 years is an increase in the amount of corn everything has. Corn is really cheap to grow so the government has been encouraging people to grow more and more of it. So much so that the government gives billions in subsidies to farmers to keep corn at a low price and get them to grow more and more of it. We feed it to our cows that (of course) aren't naturally designed to eat corn so the cows are pumped full of antibiotics and other medicine because their constantly sick from their all corn diet. And the media engine keep telling us that it's a good thing we have corn fed cows because it's somehow "better". If you go to our stores and pick up any food item in a can/box/bottle and look at the ingredients you'll always find "corn" somewhere in it.

@knxrb

You God...

Also Coca-Cola is delicious. We can't really have an argument on tap water because one person might live somewhere where there's good filtration and treatment systems, and another where their local council hasn't taken the dead hobo out of the sewers yet due to budget cuts.

Coca-Cola and Pepsi tastes worlds apart over here at least. It's ironic that for once an American company exports better stuff than where it's based.

Carbonated drinks give me a stomach ache about 25% of the time, so I avoid them. But when I'm home sometimes I'll enjoy some ginger beer. Most pops are not enjoyable to me and too sweet, but Coke is my favourite.

my favorite soda is like... soviet soda and Mr. Putins soda lol

jk they dont exist. But they do have some great sodas in russia.

Tarhun is this delicios green fizzy drink which is made from some type of a plant. Baikal (named after lake baikal) is like soviet coca cola, but it tastes better, infact the taste is very different from coca cola. Its based on several kinds of herbs that grow around lake baikal area. We also have other sodas based on fruits. but modern versions of all that stuff are all synthetic. Older people used to tell me that baikal and Tarhun sodas used to taste WAAY better than they do today because they were made of the actual plants and herbs. Everyone who is at least 25 years old always says that soviet era foods and drinks were amazing compared with what they have today. Even this documentary i watched on the history of icecream told that un ussr icecream was made of real milk and butter and apperentley tasted infinatley better than todays stuff based on cheap synthetic milk replacement, margirine and chemicals. i know ussr gets a lot of hate but i really wish i grew up in those times so i could consume those legendary drinks and icecream (and legendary other stuff as well).

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them

Indeed, i knew the company difference. The carbonated water is essentially carbonic acid, so even it is acidic! In the end soda doenst seem that great for you, but i still drink it!

Offtopic: I live in Thailand and here tap water is crazy dangerous for you (Our dog can drink it though. o.O; ) but we have many many brands of bottled water at a very low price. (20 bottles, 32 baht which is about 1 dollar)

On topic: I pretty much only drink fanta, red and grape, I can't stand that green stuff.
I used to be highly addicted to cola (Can't stand coka cola, I drank the cheap danish stuff which tasted much better in my opinion)
I lost my taste for it when I discovered red fanta though, which I now consume in large amounts.
Not every day though, just whenever my wife and I feel like the drive to the nearest super center and then we buy 3-5 bottles at a time.
