The next addition to the Humble Indie Bundle is out! Just posting to give it some more attention cuz it is for a good cause. Who isn't going to get this bundle?

Everyone loves the funny videos. lol

Wonders why TGC doesn't do something like this with a few good games made with DBP. lol

As soon as I can give them something I wouldn't feel bad about, I'll be getting it.

Sure, you can get it for $0.01, but then you feel bad inside.

The games look a bit boring this time. I love the concept though.

I look at it another way, donating only 1 penny cost them more in bank fees. So there actually losing money thanks to you being cheap...

@Melancholic - very true. It costs them per download. If you download it they have to Pay the developers. They can lose money if you do that. Donating 1 penny would make them lose money.

Just an fyi. Just donate above average to feel better about it then :p

Not at all, when people like Notch donate $4000 it means that other people who can't afford things can pay 1c. Not everyone has the same disposable income.

I paid $5.00. I figure, like Thraxas said, they get tons of donations of large amounts, not to mention the total sales always outweigh the production costs. I always give the full amount I donate to Child's Play.

I love this pack because they're physics games, my favorite "genre" of games.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I was gonna pay $10, but my Paypal balance said differently. So it had to be $2. Made it 50c each way.

Cogs is really good twist on a sliding puzzle. Crayon Physics Deluxe seems to be one of those games you can relax to while playing. Haven't tried the other three yet.

Even VVVVV? That game is awesomely cruel. I loved it and it was incredibly addictive.

Might be tempted as I only have one of the games listed...plus it's a good cause and all that.

I wouldn't really call it being cheap. I don't want the games anyways. I've yet to find an indie game I've played more than five minutes and I have like 12. Just can't really stand indie games like these. However, I did not know it cost them per download. Maybe I'll give them a dollar.

if you only give them a penny, you can pirate it and have the same effect, only upside being you are being legal aside form illegal by giving them a penny to share between 5 companies and the ones doing it + the charity you might give to.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that And Yet It Moves was one of my favourite indie games of all time... not to mention it was made with Torque2D! Recommended

I paid $1 because I believe in supporting indie developers.

Anyway the games seem pretty cool, I've played all of them except for VVVVVV since I'm worried that the game will be as crap as the title.

I work 6 hours a week. $5 is slightly more than a half hour of work for me seeing as I make a whole 8 dollars in hour. So that's close to 1/10 of what I make in an entire week. $5 goes a long ways for me.

But people don't all have that mentality. You don't know everyone's circumstances, so maybe 1c is all someone can genuinely afford. $5 is not much to me, I earn very good money, so it's not even 5 mins work. I already own the game I want from this bundle and I give money to the charities I decide to give money to already. So they're going to get nothing from me this time.

Actually Thraxas, I hold a higher level of respect being as you actually donate. Too many times in supermarkets and whatnot, the cashier asks, "Would you like to donate a dollar to Children's Cancer Research?" and people bark, "No!"

Honestly, despite my rude and arrogant appearance, I am huge on encouraging philanthropy. Like I said before, why is it fair that some countries suffer while other ones have an excess amount of surplus?

Has anyone seen the message you get for "purchasing" with a penny? If not, go try it! (You don't have to complete the transaction, just put $0.01 in the custom payment field and it'll show up)

I love their humor, they deserve more than the $10 I donated.

I make around $10 an hour, so sounds about right. $7.25 is the minimum wage for PA, so I'm not sure what country offers $10 as the minimum, but that doesn't sound bad at all.

British Columbia's minimum wage will be $10 very soon. And the dollar is stronger than the USA. I thought California was around $9.75? I could be wrong.

I actually think it varies from state to state, I'm not entirely sure. I know the McDonald's around here have been hiring for above minimum wage, because there is a shortage of people willing to do said jobs.

Either way, as minimum wage rises, the cost of living will rise.

AMAZING!!! WOO!!! That was soooo much fun!!! I'll definitely be playing that again to get the other secrets!

[EDIT]

Gasp! Custom levels and a level editor! That's awesome! Too bad I have no idea how to use the level editor. But at least the extra levels they included are fun

Actually it's a lot of fun as it seems Plystire has just found out. It's got simple gameplay elements - you just move around and flip gravity, but it can be very challenging and quite cruel.

As for paying 1 cent for the games, I think it's up to his Redneck friend what he pays, it's the whole idea and it's not just for charity, but a marketing strategy too - if they hook our Vietnam conquering amigo to one of their games it could attract him to other games, but it also might not, but then marketing isn't ever 100% successful. Essentially it's like Valve giving Portal away for free for a period of time, except people donate money to charity. I paid nothing for Portal and still enjoy it, it's not like me pirating the game or anything like that.

I earn $7.25 (minimum wage) in West Virginia working around 50 hours a week. Paying $5 for a few games isn't too bad, but it's still nearly an hour of working in 100 degree weather. I look at it this way, though. At least it isn't the cost of a normal game. That's nearly a whole day's work.

Regardless, if you have a job, then you should easily be able to afford more than 1 cent for a few games. It's for a good cause as well.

I'd also like to say that the Hammer Fight game is extremely fun and addicting as well. Takes a bit to get used to playing, but once you do it's hard to stop! My only irritation with it is the almost mocking "Wanna skip the level?" offer they give you if you die 3 or more times. Stupid sky worm! I died on him at least 10 times! Ohhhhh -- but I got him in the end, yessir. And it was glorious. The feeling of triumph when conquering a foe such as that is great! And when they gave me the option to fight another... well, I couldn't refuse further vengeance They didn't even HAVE to lure me in with pretty gems!

@Thraxas:

Who're going to get all of your extra keys?

@Neuro:

It took me at least 6 levels to "get used" to them. And by that I mean I was still struggling to make it do what I wanted, when I wanted.

After beating the game, it finally dawned on me to check if there was a way to tweak mouse movement. And there is! I highly recommend you have the game calibrate it for you. It ended up calibrating mine to near lightspeed in the menu, but juuuuust right for in-game. I think that's the only real crit I have for the game. I mean, I found some bugs here and there, sure, but I kind of expected to.

I like the overall idea of the game, using physics for battle. And I think they did an awesome job turning it into something great. Like all the options you have once you get into it and open up lots of weapons to choose from. My favorite setup is dual-flail ("whips" as they like to call them), one medium length, one long. For some reason I just find flails to be easier to swing around at high speeds, and VERY easy to straight up spike anyone in my way down to earth at terminal velocity.

Oh wait -- I do have a couple more crits for them. I haven't been able to unlock every weapon in the game. I don't know if I missed some during the storyline or not, but I'm not allowed to replay it with my character to find out (will be making a new character to find out, though). And I've absolutely massacred the arena and the tribal wars. The tribal wars are offering me weapons that I already have as "prizes". The merch doesn't have any new weapons to sell to me either. Maybe they're in the hammerball mode (it's a sport... very hard IMO), I'll have to check that out sometime. I know I'm missing 1 weapon for sure, because I had it at one point from the storymode, and it ended up breaking off of my ship during a mission and was lost forever.

Another thing is.... these gems. They're all-powerful! But once you put them on a weapon... you can't take it off, and you can't get a new one. Man, I wish I was told that BEFORE I put a fire-gem in my wooden hammer.... my hammer burned up after the gem kicked in, so I only get to use it for 1/4 of a battle. Luckily the hammer doesn't disappear forever, so it's at least good for a short fight.

Annnd another thing -- the "overkill" thing, where your ship turns blue and starts moving through air like a fish through water. It moves so fast that as soon as it kicks in, my ship immediately has a desire to ram the nearest person, knock itself unconcious, and then take a short flight into the nearest wall.

Hmmm -- I think that's it. My greatest praise for the developers is for the AI of the game. Very well done, the AI can (most of the time) work well with other AI to trap you into a corner, act strategically, keeping distance from you until an opportune time to strike comes along. And if the AI notices you winding up a hit, they do a good job putting up shields, placing their own weapon in the line of fire, doing anything in their power to keep your hit from hurting as much as it no doubt will. (Which is where my dual-flail combo comes in, long flail sweeps their weapon out of the way while the medium length flail comes crashing into their skulls)

I should stop now... big post.

Out of all the games, the one that's holding my interest the most is Hammerfight. I agree with most of what Plystire has been saying, my only issue is that I play on my lappytop on a little tray...I need a larger mouse area to really play the game properly. It seems that even with a low mouse setting(small hand movement=big game movement), I still get my mouse stuck against the side of my laptop or off of my laptop tray..

That's true, too. I have a small area for my mouse on this desk. I ended up clearing away a large open area to play the game, but I still found myself ramming the mouse into my TV, speakers, or off the desk completely.

How far have you played into the game, IC?
