So who here has seen the reboot of Planet of the apes? lol this movie made me want to see the original (and i did).

1) amazing and by far the one of the most influantial movies of the 60s

2) other then being horrible it was ok.

3) basically 3 was a bit of a paradox if u think about it.

4) Tells the story of what Zira told the precidential comnitte on how humanity fell. especially the virus that kills all the dogs and cats throughout the world, thus forcing humans to adapt to using apes.

5) haven't seen it yet.

honestly, i've always loved those references in movies and tv shows of planet of the ages but never got around to seeing the glory of them (at least the first 1).

so yea, those movies changed my life. I might just watch some others from around that time....

any suggestions?

1. Yes, it was very influential especially in the special effects department... nothing like ape-makeup had ever been done before.

2. What?

3 and 4. Yes, because of Taylor they were curious and wanted to go to space themselves. They were the ones that brought the plague that killed all the cats and dogs which forced humans to have apes as pets then later as slaves. But their offspring Cesar was the one that made sure the apes learned speech and tactics against the Humans. It's not really a paradox because it was meant to happen.

5. What?

The two greatest lines from Planet of the Apes (the original):

George Taylor: Doctor, I'd like to kiss you goodbye.
Dr. Zira: All right, but you're so damned ugly.

I thought about adding that and the last line but everybody that's ever seen it should have those lines memorized.

George Taylor: Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!

George Taylor: Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it. You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! G__ damn you all to hell!

They haven't stood the test of time for me. I think they're awesome movies, but hard to really get into now. But still, that's why I have high hopes for this remake, because the concept is quality. Is there a trilogy on the cards?

Actually on second thought there is a paradox. If they were the ones that brought the plague from the future to the past then where did the plague come from? They had the plague only because they brought the plague to the past.

A better example of this kind of paradox is in an old movie called "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve. In the movie he's approached by an old lady and she gives him a watch and says "Come back to me." curious he tries a technique to time travel back to the past and meets her as a young woman and he eventually leaves the watch with her. This watch was never bought in a store... never actually put together... it just exists without a creation date. He got it from her she got it from him and thus the paradox. Where did the watch come from?

From a later date when he would obviously buy or make the watch and go back in time and give it to someone to pass on

I'm sorry, I think I'm gonna sound like a total idiot right now, but I thought there was only 1 planet of the apes movie, where some guy ( if I remember correctly he looked like mad damon or something ) goes after an ape that disapeared after being send into space, he then lands in a swamp and eventually he goes back to earth when he finds back his ship in a desert. Are there more....

lol. Yes. I'm afraid you do now look like an idiot!

That was a terrible rehash, I believe featuring the lame Mark Walberg, of the original movies. Actually, it wasn't that bad (it did have Estella Warren in it after all ), but I'm hoping this new one will capture the spirit of the originals more .... and not have Walberg in it.

Can't help but think of "Green Goblin" when ever I see "what ever his name is", the one who is looking after the chimp in the movie.

The guy who did the motion capture for gollum, did motion capture for the chimp, if no one knew. What's his name?

I didn't think the CGI looked particularly good, but overall I enjoyed the film. I'd recommend watching it.

I saw it the other day. It was actually good surprisingly. It was just monkeys beaten up the military the whole time... It actually had a developing story line and just was surprisingly good.

Usually these kinds of film disappoint me. This one thoroughly impressed me.

Th story is well thought out (granted it's a little outlandish, but they have to get from dumb apes to talking, thinking apes in 90 minutes). It's got emotion and attachment to the characters. It's got good guys and bad guys, and reasons for the story panning out just as it does.

Verdict: One to watch.

They seem to have left a nice little gap for a second film to progress the story to the original.

I thought it was pretty good, and the way they blended the CG with the live actors was really amazing. The humans in the movie were dull and one-dimensional, though. It was very clear who the "good" and "bad" guys were, and they were very overdone. The dialogue was also pretty bad.

I liked it. I thought the way they got from the start to the end was quite a bit better than the original "rise of the planet of the apes" The CGI was impressive (although you could tell that caesar was fake if you looked close enough). altogether a pretty good movie that was above my expectations.
