Well, so after a summer full of training, conditioning and running, I finally beat my own record yesterday. Ran a 5K in 15.24.36 mins.. My past record was 15.50, so I shaved of a clean 30 second, which is mind-blowing (for me lol ) Thats good enough to almost get me first at state once track season starts (the winner last year was 15.20).

The world record for Men's 5K is 12.37.35... just to give you a reference point

So I was just wondering is there were any other runner's on these forums, and if so, what are your fastest times? Doesnt have to be 5K, you can post times for any distance

Cheers,
Anayar

Oh, that makes sense. I was assuming it was a craaaazy sports term I wasn't aware of.

And for the record, the fastest I did was.. Over an hour, I don't go well with physical excercise. ;] Lung issues and all that. I'm competing for the slowest today.

(For reference, 5k is a bit more than 3 miles.)

DAYUM. the fastest I ever got was 19:30, but that was just after one year of cross country.

I haven't really practiced running for a year or two, so... meh. I could probably get a 21:00 now, but that's pushing it xD

We did a 4.5k run at school, but jeez, I can't remember the time.

But if I were to do it now with my current fitness, I'd estimate...7 years.

LOL And if you have asthma or other problems like that I dont recommend you run at all let alone in an hour

Quote: "I think I manage one weekly."

Oooh, its alright mate, keep practising and someday your gonna reach 5 days

Quote: "Not much of a runner anymore but used to haul the 100metres in 14-15 seconds. Far too outa shape to pull the stuff again."

Quote: "DAYUM. the fastest I ever got was 19:30, but that was just after one year of cross country."

So calculating average time per km; 20/6= 3.3333
Multiply by 5; 3.3333*5=16.6666

Not bad... not bad at all

I never ran a 5k, or really went running just to run. Maybe I'm out of shape. I was going to start running over the summer but like most summer plans, I put that on hold I'm not over or underweight though

I don't see the point on learning to run, I was one year old and already walking like a pro.

I have a problem with my lung, so when i run for a short while it stings when i breathe in the left lung, not very pleasant and no it is not Astma, the doctors THINK it might be because i had a "pneumonia" not sure if that is the right word, just translated it from swedish "lunginflammation" when i was in fifth grade, the doctors THINk it might have regrown a bit too tightly, which might make sense, if i inhale fully i can feel the stinging slightly and it is highly uncomfirtble to lay down on my left side.

long story short: the fastest i have ever run 2kilometres are on 20 minutes+, so...

and for the record, I am a man.

My best is probably around 16:30, not bad, but not good either. I really haven't started training until more recently.

I don't know if you've heard of it (but if your from England you should of) I run a "Parkrun" nearly every Saturday. If you haven't heard of it it is basically a group that organizes free(no entrance fee) timed 5k races every week in parks all around the UK, they vary in popularity from place to place but my local is very popular. Although it isn't much of a race and most people there are serious and use it for training, it gives you a great boost and I manage to finish in about 17min with probably a 5,6,6 mile splits but when I run on my own it's more like 20min but I'm more used to pacing for 10k and 13.1 miles

Need to get over a pulled back muscle before Brum half marathon can't waitttt

I can't run any more due to arthritis in my knees, which is annoying because I used to enjoy it.

I thought you meant 5k lines of code! xD I don't think I've ever written that much!
Errrm, I don't know kilometers but I've run around 2.2 miles in about 16:40 minutes or something like that. I think you are faster than me!!! I have not run for ages thinking about it... I will make it my life's work to run faster than you!!

I'm a (bad) programmer and I'd say I'm in fairly good shape. I ride a bike pretty much everywhere I go. I'm too cheap and impatient to use public transport. xD

Never clocked myself in a 5k, but I use to run my 2 mi. = 3.21868 km for my PT Test in the Army always around about 10min 40 (some odd ish) sec. And that was after doing 80 push-ups < 2 min. and 80-ish sit-ups < 2 min.

Haven't been jogging for a long time now, though last time I managed about 750 metres in 3 minutes. No idea if that's any good or not.

I'm terrible at long distance running but I'm not too bad at short distance. I can do 100m in about 13-14 seconds. It is my dream to run 5k in 15 mins

It has been a very long time since I've done any running. When I was in 6th and 7th grade (11-13 years old I think?) I used to do Track and Field for the school. I was quite fast for that age too. I ran a 5:30 mile and a 2:21 half mile. That was eight or so years ago though and I haven't been running long distances like I used to. I am mostly a short distance runner these days although I was always better at long distance. I'm far, far, far faster than I was those years ago though so if I was to train a couple months long distance, I could easily beat any record I had from back then.

But I don't have any desire to lol. The times I ran at that age are faster times than any of my friend's or family member's best times ever in their lives. So I'm content.

Jesus christ that's fast!

I mean, it's impressive normally, but for an 11-13 year old that's lightning fast! I think I remember the 1 mile record at my middle school being like 6:00 or so.

I was fast lol. I wasn't the fastest on our track team unfortunately. We had one person, he was one year above me, and he set some retarded records he was so fast. He ended up training with some professional track athlete in his freshman year of high school. I don't know what happened to him after that though. But he would just smoke the hell out of me in any long distance event.

Have consistently been running a 5k in the 19 minute range for the past couple years. I have done a few marathons as well at 7:30 minute pace. I very much enjoy going out for a run to get some fresh air after looking at the cpu all day.
