So I just turned 21 today. I love how many people are let down when I say that I don't plan on drinking.

I can't say I've gotten any gifts, but the biggest gift was my freedom when I moved away from home to attend university and be all self-reliant.

Anyway, just wanted to hear of what alternatives you guys have regarding things to do to celebrate my turning of age.
I'm working on eSports integrations, check out [a]https://gamergalaxy.net[/a] for more information!

Read the AUP. You kids aren't allowed to give away your age!!!

Oh, congrats by the way. As for celebrations, just do something you enjoy doing. It doesn't have to involve getting drunk.

Congrats dab,, and Happy Birthday!

Being from the U.S. I probably did more "binge drinking" between the ages 16-18 than 21+. And when I was 19 I was stationed at Keesler AFB MS, which is a little over an hour away from New Orleans and much closer to say Slidell Louisiana; Drinking age in Lousianna is 18 for the most part, though some places will refuse to serve you at all or at least much quicker than someone 21+.

After being in New Orleans every weekend for 12 Months, everything else is water!!!! I mean within the first 30 minutes of arrival on Bourbon Street, I usually downed 1-2 Hurricanes and a few Everclear Jello shots, and I wasn't feeling any pain.

Regardless, like you said it's not all about drinking. It is a milestone,, and it is a great age to be.

Over here, by the time people are 21. They are bored of drinking.

Happy birthday mate.

What I'm gonna be doing very soon for my birthday is buying a pistol and firing off a bunch of rounds. Here you have to be 21 to buy a handgun.

You can do that when you're 18 in PA, not sure about anywhere else.

@Crispex

Maybe so, but most of those places require you to buy drinks, thus pushing the age to 21.

In the United States you have to be 21 to buy, transport, and consume alcohol. Not 18. Why, I'll never know.

Here, when you turn 18, you can buy, consume as much as you want, and go to clubs.
Since 18/19 is the general age people start going to university. You can imagine how hectic the first year is.

I went to the casino for my 21st. Learn how to play Craps! And, the casinos I go to bring you alcohol for free if you're gambling. Be sure to tip the ladies that bring you booze, though (especially if you're winning!), they work hard.

in sweden u can buy 3,5%ish alchohole at the age of 18 and 21 ui can buy higher... u can drink higher at 18 though only at pubs.

this to prevent the amount of alchoholics who, at the age of 18 still are stupid as shoe! ^^

in the USA. from what i've learned during high school. The only reason they had it as 21 was because back then it was 18 years old. one day i think it was during the 1970's there was a dangerous high rate of drinking and driving related deaths. after that they decided to crank it up to 21. the drinking and driving related deaths went down by a lot.

We complain about our drinking age being 21 out here... But honestly, even though I'm 20 and not able to buy and drink alcohol, I'm actually glad that it's a 21 drinking age. Americans take alcohol way too far. It's just what we do lol. At 18, most people are simply too immature out here to actually "drink responsibly."

I turn 21 November 1st... The next weekend, we are taking a trip to the land of epic casinos and epic alcohol comsumption!!! lol.

Vegas, baby!!! Yeah!

In all honesty, it only took my high school graduation party to teach me about drinking too much. Hung over for 2 days.... that'll learn ya.

I rarely partied in high school. Not because I didn't like to party, but because my parents actually have always given me permission to drink lol. Because I was allowed to drink whenever really, I didn't feel the need to go to big high school parties.

We have a vacation home in some lil hick-town, and we would have big family parties up there. It was mostly adults and very few people my age, so it was always an entirely different party environment than a high school party (which by the way is far greater partying than any high school party because high school kids don't actually know how to party; they just get as hammered as they can simply because they think that's the whole purpose. It wasn't about actually having fun, it was just about being as hammered as possible.) High school parties were just a bunch of retarded kids who didn't understand the concept of a drinking limit and simply drank as irresponsible as you can possibly imagine lol.
With adults, it was almost difficult to surpass your limit.
Kind of strange, by being allowed to drink a few years before the drinking age, I actually learned to drink responsibly lol.

You can't really have an opinion on something you haven't experienced to be honest. And I don't mean that in a rude way, but by having never drank before, you can't say there is no purpose. There really isn't anything moral about never drinking either, IMO. Drinking isn't immoral if not done excessively. Drives me crazy when people say they don't drink for reasons like that. As long as drinking isn't taken to an excess, there absolutely is a purpose for it and there is nothing wrong whatsoever about it.

I dont drink for moral reasons: i dont drink because i dont need it. I dont feel like it is necessary: i do plan on doing it, sometime in the future.. I mean: people say that "being drunk is so much fun" but if i can have fun without becoming drunk, then why would I?

and for the record, I am a man.

Simple...

Because you have even more fun drunk. No one says you can't have fun sober, it simply takes entertainment to a higher level.

And I didn't mean you in particular when I spoke of moral reasons. I wasn't sure if that's why you don't or not, so I added that just in case. In general, it bugs the hell out of me when people say they don't drink because it's bad and stupid crap lol.

i dont say it is stupid at all, well it is if you drink like a stupid shoe, but if you are responsible then no, it isnt that stupid, i just dont find the need to.
not to say that i drink because of the taste: the most i have had is one 50cl 3,5% ale, which is fine to me: i dont get tipsy and i drink because of the <taste> in that regard^^

lol thanks for all the wishes guys. Also, the AUP doesn't want you listing age if you're under 18 or whatever. Unless they updated since I last visited here D:

At any rate, I just renewed my license to the horizontal format. I think that's been the highlight of the age change thus far. I think I'll enjoy going off to bars to watch Sports matches. That'll be fun (some times ).

But yea, thanks everyone! <3
