i know i wont be able to do it yet, but i think it would really nice for everyone.
but i was thinking of making a 3d level maker/editor thing that allows you to import the monsters/items and then you drag and drop where you want them and all that good stuff.
but i was also wondering:

would it be possible?
would anyone want to team up w/me? (well, i might get my friends in on this)
how long would it take, aprox? (1 year, 2 years, 1month)
would it be worth while?
would it be REALLY hard or just semi hard? i understand how code works, i just need to learn all the commands and stuff, if that makes any sence(sp?)

sorry if this is a stupid post. but i thought it would make A LOT of peoples lives easier (actually, i was really only thinking of myself ).

It's possible. How long it takes depends on how much you already know and how much time you spend on it each day.

I don't think thats what he meant. More like you place a monster within your 3D world, and the program creates it's path of movement and such.

so basicly he wants to make something like RPGmaker95 or 2000 (but alot better i hope) where you can do stuff in 3d by dragging and dropping but i think the 3d game maker does the same thing too but im not sure

Or is it like the world editors for StarCraft and Warcraft, where you can select where you want to have your character start and set up waypoints etc, and then have all that exported into code?

If that's what it'd be, id have it...

I would help, but ive got school, work, and im in two teams already...

Good idea though...

yes, i mean, it doesnt code the game for you. but you could take objects that you made, apply them to code, and put them in the world you made in that program. i dont know exactly how i will do it yet. but i was thinking. you import the .x file and insert the DB code it in, or put import *.dba (or whatever the extention is, i cant remember right now) and tell it where the first line of code for that object and the last or something to the extent thereof. im going to plan all that out BEFORE i code those, or else i will never finish the project.

also, how should i make it do the matrix? should i make it so you click and drag or just type in how big then it makes it? any and all suggestions will be nice about ANYTHING in this program i hope to write

do it with click and drag, it makes everything more managable that way, alot easyer to work with and can be less frustrating than typeing everything...

I'm working on a level editor for my game, but it is in progrmammed in DBP, so when its working aight I think i will release it and then program one for DB
things I've done so far:

great camera control(middelmouse button- pan camera, scroll button- zoom in and out, right mouse button - rotate camera)
selecting objects by clicking on them in the viewport
moving objects by draging them in the viewport
making primitives

planning on putting a lot more functions in it and finnishing it

Specs: AMD Athlon 1800, 256 DDRRam 266mhz, 80GB HD 7200rmp U133, Geforce 4 Ti4400 128mb ddr sdram
