A) Programming [Be it DBC/DBPro or C++ etc]
B) While on these TGC Forums [not interested in others] for a million hours on end? [same goes for programming]

A)-
While programming, I like simple foods, chips [Deep Fried chuns of potato wedges - for those not used to the UK expression of CHIPS - its Crisps in some countries lol, remember the first day in Copenhagen and was dead hungry and asked for chips... you get the rest of this...] as well as Pasta + Sauce, umm coffee as well, IRN BRU is currently my top hit I have ditched PEPSI MAX [reason? they down sized the 24 pack cans ] now and will continue with Filtered Brita Filter Water again ... umm hmm mixed fruit and nuts... Tea, more to come soon when I urm eat more aha

B)-Much easier stuff, Deep fried Chicken Nuggets
as I did tonight, Yogurt urm strawberry and also black current and sometimes banana flavour its quite nice actually... of course coffee and tea, Milk Chocolate Digestives McVities of course with a glass of cold milk [yes I dip them its nice!]... more to follow soon.

So how about you guys?

[feel free to also mention other occassions where you are tranced and require huge amounts of brain fuel while not doing much physical movement, ie... programming in DBPro hehe]

Strange topic, but meh!

If I'm eating and browsing or programming it just tends to be a bag of crisps or something like that, I don't normally eat meals at my computer, maybe lunch or breakfast and then it's usually a tuna mayo sandwich or cheese (cheddar or double Gloucester) on toast.

Drinks on the other hand.
A) Tea or Monster. (Monster if my brain isn't with it)
B) Tea or Dr Pepper

As for types of tea, I can't just have your standard pot of tea, nope. I have different types, my favourite is pretty much Rooibos (AKA Redbush) and recently stocked up on Rooibos with Wild Cherry and Strawberries and Cream (it's not too sickly sweet actually). Rooibos with Vanilla and Nutmeg is also particularly awesome. I've also got a good bit of Chai in my cupboard, which is tasty, different Chai tend to have different ingredients, but the lot I bought is mix with ginger, cinnamon and cloves. And being a proper Englishman, ALL my tea has milk in it, even the stuff that 'supposed' to taste better without.

I suppose to anybody reading this reply must be thinking: "what about the scones?!" I can't be English without scones (or crumpets) with my tea and you'd be quite right! But I was born in Wales and everybody knows Cheese on Toast is the national dish. As for the Irish in me...I'm very surprised as to why there's no whiskey in my cup of tea in the morning, well I guess we can't go by stereotypes now can we?

I don't usually eat when coding. I guess that goes for a lot of the things I do in front of the computer. When I get in the "zone", I just forget about everything. I'm pretty simple like that, can only do one thing at a time, and like to focus on that. Does cause problems with significant other, as I become unresponsive when absorbed in an activity.

Drink? If it's after work, I'll usually have a beer sitting somewhere nearby. Beer is brilliantly cheap in Indonesia, compared to Australia, and is actually really good. Bintang FTW. Other than that, it's black tea. Mostly because there's little milk to be had!

I haven't had a desktop in almost two years, so that might have something to do with all this. I find the portability of my decidedly average but entirely adequate business laptop commensurate with my needs!

EDIT - I'm about to get some Mi Goreng for breakfast though. Lovely lady who brings me coffee also brings fried noodle goodness

Bottled water, usually. I prefer beer but the quality of coding usually suffers when I have too much of it.

Sippin' on tea or a Pepsi Max. I don't eat while coding. Fried food + sitting in front of the computer sounds like an invitation to Mr Obesity, if you ask me.

Come on in Mr Obesity. Show me what you got for me.

Not really, I was making reference to a Bill Bailey joke.

Oddly enough...alcohol makes me more focused. Lectures at University, if I went to the bar before a lecture I'd be more on the ball or if I was out drinking all night before an early morning lecture I'd be the most awake person and again be right on the ball. I should code after a couple of pints really.

But I never went to lectures drunk, because then my mind would be mush. I guess I'm a freak.

Off topic: I do not get Bill Bailey. It would be a miracle if he even made me crack a smile. The least funny comedian I have ever seen. He just sounds like a boring man talking.

As for drinking before lectures, I miss those days soooo much.

Black coffee, waffles, pancakes, Cadbury fudge deserts, Revels, Maltesers, fruit salad, toast, Jaffa cakes, cookies.

At work I make do with lots of black coffee, twixes, and cinnamon balls (boiled sweets). Boiled sweets are great for when you need to concentrate.

I'm a healthnazi...so I won't start to annoy people with it.

The only thing that I simply can't stop drinking is coffee and yes, on both occasions, I like to have a cup

Heh, my first thought: "What's with all these acronyms?"

I've taken to drinking sweet tea. Every few days, I just boil a bunch of water in a saucepan, put some teabags in, take 'em out, add sugar, dilute it a bit (because it's usually a bit too strong), aaand refrigerate it. Usually I use black tea. I've been wanting to try earl grey sweet tea tough...

Also: How do you get milk+tea to taste good? I love the japanese style milk tea, so I'd probably love whatever the english style of milk tea is, but... if I ever try to figure out how to make it myself it always just ends up tasting bad.

Boil the kettle, put 2 sugars in and a teabag in a cup. Add water, and make it about 1/10th milk. That's how I like it done anyway xD

google IRN BRU >.<

usually to make English tea... Boil some water, pour into a cup [this is the route I think gets the best flavour] btw make sure the water cools down for like 10 seconds in the kettle... then throw in a tea bag, stir like a washing machine... [sounds like a song lyric that one] add milk [now your proportions should be roughly 85% tea water mix, and the rest your milk, or just add until its still got a strong colour not soo milky, now heres a good one, add the sugar if any while the tea bag is still in... then use a haha tea spoon pick the tea bag out but drain it on the side of the cup leaving all that extra flavour in the cup...

viola a simple method... just one of my many ways to make a cuppa... but there are so many ways to prepare tea... nice to know you have some Japanese in you... when I went to Osaka in 2005 I attended a traditional tea ceremony,... mmmmmm nice. I have been making tea since I was around 4-5, but strange engough I was on coffee between 7 and 11 >.< went back to tea ever since.

I boil the kettle, throw the tea bag into the cup, pour in the water once it stops bubbling, then walk off for about 5 minutes. Come back. Water is blacker than the heart of Vlad the Impaler. Add some to tone it down a bit. Drink.

Also, NO P.G.Tips. Every time I spot a tips drinker I get them to try Tetley and they're soon converted. Tips is rank.

Weird, I find the guy absolutely hilarious. I guess people's sense of humour really does differ. I can't stand Michael McIntyre, Ricky Gervais and Russel Howard yet know people who find them hilarious.

The best thing about having a bar on campus. Or those seminars with guest speakers, there was always free wine available at them and more than enough to go round.

Three comedians I like. You're right, people have completely different senses of humour when it comes to comedians, but I bet we would have a laugh if we chatted in person. I've never got that! Why do people appear to both laugh at the same things until it's on a stage?

During the summer, sprite or any refreshing soda, during the winter then I drink French Vanilla Tea with some French Vanilla Cream (It's amazing!). As for food, I will eat anything as long as it doesn't get my hands greasy or dirty. I hate using a nasty feeling keyboard so I have to eat clean foods while programming, usually oatmeal or teddy grams (cinnamon flavor )

I drink Tea when I'm coding, and beer when I'm Testing or creating media.

once I've had a few too many beers, ill tend to try coding but It usually ends with a logic error I cant trace and I get frustrated and play minecraft.

^I was just thinking about what energy drink I should get (stayed up all night coding and have to go to class). Monster java it is.

I like rockstar, even though some flavors smell horrible. (Rockstar cola is pretty good though!)

While I'm coding, mostly it's homebrewed iced tea. Sometimes I'll get a 24 pack of Dr Pepper or Pepsi and I'll go through those in a week tops. Because I have a habit of drinking so much I try to only do that every once in a while.

I just had Lo-Carb Monster...normally I hate these low carb or no sugar fizzy drinks because they just don't taste right. Lo-Carb Monster is actually pretty tasty. So I can give myself an energy boost when I need it without adding a crap load of unecessary calories (9 kcal per 100ml). Though given how laden it is with caffiene and various chemicals, I wouldn't go as far as to claim it's a healthy alternative. Just you can feel less guilty if you're a fatty like me.

Diet Coke, Pepsi Max and all that, blerrgh! Disgusting.

Seriously? Chuck everything other than the boiling water into the cup while the water is boiling. Add water. Use a spoon to spin the lot like billio. Do this for about a minute. Chuck the tea bag. End of. Tastes the same as any other if you ask me...

Ever tried Indian tea? I've had it at a couple of Indian weddings. Basically they don't use water. Boiled milk instead. Probably full fat I'm guessing (been on skimmed for years). It sounds awesome, but is far too milky for me.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Heheheh, your from Holland? Or Belgium?

I usually drink water or coke, and when it's evening, I drink a couple of beers (2 to 3) while at my comp. Either Rodenbach, Kriek or a pint.
I used to drink much when I was younger (never drunk, though), but I've calmed down since.
When playing billiards back then, drinking made me play better. Heheheh.
As for food/snacks I have no particular preference. Everything that's sweet and tasty will do.
