1) Next time, do a forum search before posting, there have already been plenty of threads on this topic...

2) Midi's only sound cheap if they are crap, just like cd's, their music only sounds cheap if the music itself is crap... There are litterally thousands of high-quality midi's out there that sounds brilliant.

3) Next time, put in more detail to your post... I.e. what type of music are you looking for? Hard Rock... Classical? just sounds? FX? etc etc. and What are you going to use the sound files for? a commercial game? a personal project? a private game? etc. etc.

The biggest problem with midi files is that the quality depends heavily on the user's soundcard (and its wavetables) and therefore different on different systems.

Might I suggest that you should look into Tracker MODs. A MOD file is a nice balance between sound quality and file size. Using the BASS interface (www.codingarea.co.uk) DBP can play tracker files...

go to www.modplug.com for more information

Can I ask you a Question?
What is it?
It's an interrogative form of sentence, used to test knowledge. But that's not important right now.

Most mod files should work with DBclassic. IIRC .it files do work.

Someone beat me to it. It isn't documented but you can play .MOD and .MP3's with the classic version. I'm using 1.13 so it might depend too.

JessTicular 1) Next time, do a forum search before posting, there have already been plenty of threads on this topic...

1) The forum search only works for the subject.
2) Since you took the time to respond, instead of being so smug, you could have at least answered the question.

I'll ask Dark coyote's question once again...
Does anyone know of any sites where you can get free music for use in games?
Specifically MIDI.

Wo! calm down people! Dont want to start a war here (by the way heartbone it was specifically not midis but thanks for standing up for me! ).
It seems that the MOD files work perfectly fine though so i can just use them as there seems to be a lot of them available.

I was asking for me.
I saw that you had what you wanted and I didn't want to start another thread. I am such a terrible music composer.

sorry heartbone, its just that when people unnecesarally post, it really annoys me... it wastes everybody's time...

I didn't mean to sound "smug" or be "rude" but i was trying to make him see that if he search's first, your questions usually are answered.

To answer your question, no i don't but i used to, and i can suggest searching in Google for something like "Game Midi" or the like...

Thanks, I'll keep looking.
I really need some decent tunes for my project.
The ones on the DBClassic disk were most excellent but they've been used too much.

A Hint:
Try searching for popular stuff, eg, the theme to Sonic in MIDI or something, then, if you find a good site, just browse their archives for what you want... (That is, if they have more than 1 file lol)

MOD files..... Wow that's takes me back to AMOS, I used to write them all the time. Didn't know DBC supported them.....

There was Eru, the One, who in Arda is called Iluvater;(allfather)and he made first the Ainur, the Holy Ones, that were the offsprinf of hid thought, and they were with him before aught else was made.

dont use kazaa! all that music is pirated and if you use it you could get sued! and they will make a really big deal about it if you ask money for the game! Make sure the music you use is royalty free!

its not a bug its a ... a ... a extra feature!
