i have some questions bout texturing models now i have this model(s)thats not textured i want to texture it indivudual parts i dont want to apply a texture to the whole thing but different parts uv coordinates how can i do this if the object isnt broken down into groups like this weapon is made from one object?can i ungroup somehow im using milkshape,i have unwrap but am not familar with texturing

the only way i know how to do something like that, is to unwrap the object, and create a texture that with the same UV coords, so when you apply the texture, it wraps around the object.

if you need help doing this, i could probably help you out, this is how i do my texturing.

thanks rage i do need help im not that good with texturing and unwrapping i have unwrap but a little clueless ill catch u on msn im koolaid2764

In Milkshape you unwrap diferent groups individualy. You dont have to break your model if it is already broken in to the groups.

If your model is just one group than you have to make diferent parts as diferent groups.

I would recomend you to learn useing Lithunwrap since Milkshape inbuild unwrap is not that good and in general its suficient for unwraping non organic models (box shaped) If you want to unwrap let say human body its realy difficult.
You can download Lithunwrap at Wan B's or Simple's wep page I think. -its free.
At firsth sight it may looks bit confusing and complex but its worth learning. Afther some efort you will find it preaty easy and powerful. It also read and export milkshape format.
