I'm thinking about buying a netbook and I want to know which is faster. It would be really great to hear from somebody who has experience with both.
Thanks in advance! Or, wait, should you thank me because I gave you something to do while your bored?

You can check the benchmarks of each CPU here:

It's not 100% knowable for all circumstances, but I would wager the dual core.

I'd also check the amount of cache on each core of the dual core compared against the cache on the single core. Cache generally makes a bigger difference than ghz.

If they are the same, will you be doing any kind of multitasking? If not, it *might* be faster with just a single-core, but probably not. You'd probably be happier with the dual core.

ya I guess it would be sort of safer to get the dual core. Thank you.

You can't compare processors on clock speed alone, so it'd be useful to know if they are from the same family or not.

I'm not sure which Atom processor you're looking at, but as it only has one core then I'd say that it's an old one.

The AMD C-60 is new this year, will likely have a smaller TDP (= more battery life), supports DDR3 memory and has an integrated Radeon HD 6290 which will beat Intel graphics any day.

[EDIT]

For a netbook, that's pretty impressive.

Do you reckon you could link us to the two netbooks?

Hey I got it and am posting with it now. Its pretty nice. It is the aspire one 722 with 4 Gb ram. I am still managing my programs but I will get to the real testing soon.

Ok, so so far I've run terraria and it runs well except the loading screens are a little long.

If your using Windows7, more than one core is pretty vital. Maybe even with Vista as well.
