Hi guys, I need urgent help!
I recently installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview (build 8250)
and I've noticed that OpenGL doesn't work. And intel won't let me reinstall my drivers. I really need help here, otherwise I can't play minecraft and Soldier of Fortune 2 etc.

The main issue here is Windows 8... I'd say either downgrade, wait for backwards compatibility or wait for OpenGL developers to make the next release Windows 8 compatible.

OpenGL does work on Windows 8, but perhaps the intel drivers don't work on 8. (Though if it works on 7 it should work on 8). If intel has beta drivers for 8 download those. Otherwise, give us more details about your hardware.

I read not that long ago that Microsoft had dropped openGL support for Windows 8.

I don't know about silverlight (don't think they're dropping it though), but they certainly aren't dropping VS. They're working on VS 11 for making Windows 8 apps, I know there's a VS 11 beta floating around somewhere.

EDIT:

VS 11 beta

If you're trying to run 64 bit java, want to use OpenGL and just happen to have an amd card, give up and use 32 bit java.
Unless the problem has nothing to do with Java, in which case ignore this.

This would be a horrible, horrible choice for them to make.
