So this is going on just up the road from where I live ...

http://wish.co.uk/zombie-shopping-mall/

The old Reading shopping mall is due for demolition, but in the meantime a special effects team is laying on zombie apocalypse survival experiences. You get given airsoft guns, missions, and 3 hours to kill hordes of zombies in a story driven special effects filled environment.

I'm really tempted. It costs a serious £120, but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity (baring a real apocalypse), since when that mall is gone, it's gone. Bloomin awesome it'd be too. I'm currently testing the water with mates to see if I can get them on board.

Do it.

You'll regret it otherwise.

sounds like fun. once a year in melbourne australia there is a zombie march down the main street. from the pics that looks pretty cool, literally thousands of zombies.

Well, I think I've managed to get two mates involved. So once I get them properly confirmed, I will in fact book it and make it happen! It's my birthday in August and they're booked up until then, so looks like it'll be a birthday prezzie to myself.

Regarding photos and stuff, I just got a Drift HD170 helmet camera for motorbike use the other day. It cames with a headstrap and mount. I'll try it out tomorrow and see how good it is. If it's any good, you know I'll be using that and making you guys a true zombie FPS video!

Reminds me of the 'Alien War' exhibition that was on at the Trocedero Center in London in the early '90s...

I ran around my house last night with my Drift 170 strapped to my head, recording in night mode. It wasn't great in the really dark bits, but it'd be good enough to record a half decent vid. Combine that with Power Director 10 which I just received today and I'm really excited about the idea of making an FPS zombie apocalypse vid.

If you did that I'd volunteer to add some SFX to the video, blood splatter, gun flares/sounds. Make an epic zombie shooter vid.

Honestly, this sounds like the greatest idea ever. You should definitely head down and shootup some zombies.

There must be rules on where you can shoot the actors, but I can bet some people would get too excited and forget not to shoot them in the face, thinking they are real zombies.

I'd like to do it, but Its way too far away and too expensive to just go on my own.

I was Artist in Residence at the Arches theatre when this was first introduced before they moved it down to London, the Arches was a large area which was all underground in a series of large arched tunnels which were remnants of the transport companies.
It was pretty awesome as they acquired all the costumes and props from the actual movies with some extra stuff built specially for the scenery. I used to get a kick out of hearing the screams echoing around the building as I worked in another area.
I reckon this might well be the same team who did AW and its on a much larger scale, hence the mighty price to take part in it, would love to see the area its being held in.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Probably cost me around £60 for a return train journey, but I would probably come along if enough people agreed to do a TGC group, so I'm putting my name down now

Words cannot express accurately how much I envy you who live in the UK (If my darn papers hadn't got messed about I'd be in the UK right now and, and... ). I am 0x00FF00 with envy!

Put it this way: One day of RL zombie-apocalypse (albeit "simulated") would win over my bed, my clothes, my furniture and even food for a week! Hell, if I couldn't raise the money, I would STEAL it...even from a CHARITY Bad karma is worth it!

You would be a valuable asset to the team mate. Someone who is willing to steal from a charity and allow babies to die of herpes, has what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse.

I can see it now, us running through the mall firing left and right. SpyDaniel trips over. You run back, helping him to his feet, then grab his magazines and push him into the advancing horde, before rejoining me and giving me that "What??! Did I do something wrong?" look.

Throw the weak to the dogs. You da man.

If I got pushed into the mob of zombies, I would make it my goal to come back as a super zed and make you both pay for it lol

Harsh. It was nonZero who pushed you. I was tying my shoe lace, otherwise I would've saved you.

Yeah, but it's Fallout who's been writing the scenario - he made me push you. Therefore, you need to steal his keyboard/typewriter as you can use it to modify the plot!
