Hi there, most of you probably don't know me but as you can see by my join date I've been here a while even if I haven't been that active.

I'm posting because I just accepted my first software development job in the games industry and while I was ruminating on the path that led me to this point I realized that a lot of it has to do with this forum and the skills I learned working with Dark BASIC.

I joined here when I was 14 and in developing and talking to like minded individuals here I was able to learn the basis of all of my software development experience and get a good grounding in the typical algorithms used in game development. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who ever helped me or provided feedback on something I developed. I know I haven't been very active, I went to college and left behind Dark BASIC for more OOP friendly languages but this is still where I started and I wanted to acknowledge that.

Carry on...

I'll be doing Android development. Whether I'm working on platforms or actual game code remains to be seen. Looking forward to it though, it's been my dream for years.

Good to keep hearing of people's success from these forums and I ought to say, nice one and congrats. Now, if some of that magic stuff could rub off on me, at most all I've had is an interview.

Well best of luck and hope you enjoy your new job (as I'm sure you will).

Please, please, please make good games. Try your best to not go to the usual copycat route...Well I hope your company doesn't.

But that's good that you got a job as a game designer.

android development doesn't mean game designer. I haven't done games professionally, but I would imagine developers are separate from designers.

Oh... Never knew that. I thought Game Designer means that your in charge of making a game.

Must be as confusing as figuring out what's an art director and a film director.

I was a JSP "developer", and I can assure you I had very little say in the "whole cycle". That's the job for the project manager and several others.

Developer ... Development

Two uncannily differently spelt words with different meanings... Strange that no?

To clear up some confusion, I was hired as a software engineer. I am doing nothing related to game design except offering some input and actually implementing design.
