Hit the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard, open up your image editor (even if it's just Paint) and click on 'paste'.

Even easier than having to paste it in paint every time, you could use LightScreen.

I do not want to download and I use a laptop, so there is no print screen button.

Are you sure it's not just somewhere else? You need to look for this key:

It'll copy the screenshot into your clipboard and then you can paste it into Paint... for me on a german keyboard the key is labeled as "Druck" which is the german word for "Print", just incase you're not using an US or UK keyboard or something.

Also sorry if you really don't have that key and are just looking for an alternative and none of our tips help But if you don't have that key you'll need to download something i guess?

Alternatively, if he really doesn't have that key (seems impossible?) depending on which Operating System he's on he won't have to download anything.

Windows 7 has a snipping tool. You can get to it the simple way by clicking Start and typing in the search bar Snipping Tool. It will let you crop the screen and give you options of what to do with it.

If you're on a different version of Windows that doesn't offer that, an awkward work around is to run on-screen keyboard and use the key on it instead. Not sure if it will work the same or not, you may have the keyboard captured. I've never tried it, but it's worth a shot.

My name is Brian.

I have seen no computer that's missing a print screen key. On laptops it may be one of the "FN" keys. Press the "FN" key and the prt scr togehter...

* alt + prt scr = capture only the active window (just learned that. no more crop in CS for me! ).

* snipping tool can be pinned to the start menu or added to the quick launch bar (and is very handy). could probably set up a hot-key for it, too, if necessary.

@OP: what operating system are you running?

Yeah I didn't know about ALT+PRSCR until a few years ago. It totally amazes you when you have been using PCs everyday for decades to suddenly find something so simple and useful Much like ALT+DragMouse to highlight text in a block (not whole lines) in Word. So *so* useful compared to how I used to prepare docs...

Cheers
