I've heard and seen the technique before, just can't find any good looking software for it. Do you any of you know of a good interpolator that's free or low cost? If, of course, this is feasible for slow motion. I can't afford a high-speed camera, but want to achieve smooth slow motion effects with 30 fps footage. If there are any better techniques than interpolation, please tell me.

adobe after effects/premiere can do timestretches very well on interpolated material. there is a 30day trial out there anywhere, maybe also some older versions for free. i dont think you will find lowcost-video-progs besides MAGIX video deluxe, wich is worth the money (only to speak of the older versions wich are much cheaper, too). video-editing in a more complex way than microsoft-moviemaker offers isnt a thing for mass of people, so hard to find freesoft.

Not to hijack your thread, but can you post some examples of what this is?

I only ask because I saw a video on YouTube and it looked pretty interesting

, but that's the problem, I only saw one video...

I'm honestly not sure of examples, really. But I just know that it takes two frames and makes a number of "Inbetween" frames that are put betweeen to fill in the gaps to simulate pictures taken with a high speed camera. I know this technology exists, but not for any small sum of money.

I saw a video like that today, and they used "Twixtor Pro" and looking at the pricing page there... it's not what you're looking for I guess >.>

The video is a Parkour/Freerunning video but I guess it serves as an example of what you're looking for, right? Something filmed with a normal camera and then slowed down by an editing program?

But I'm sorry I have no idea if something like that exists for free or atleast less money. Just thought I'd post the example (I hope this is actually what you're talking about )

Edit: fixed youtube embed >.>

PowerDirector does it. Don't like the program, but does the job.

@RedFlames
That's a very incredible looking tool and would absolutely love to have it! And yes that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the example, I have something to base my search off of.

@Red Eye
Does it do a good job at it?

Definitely not as good as other pro software, here:

I must say the editor of that video didn't use very nice settings though.

Here is a better one:

From what I have seen on youtube, AviSync does a better job.

Check this comparison:

I've heard of AVI Synth and it looks awesome and all but I would seriously not like to learn a programming language.

Maybe you can do this with VirtualDubMod? Or find a tutorial about how to do it in VirtualDubMod...
