As mentioned, the mention of 3D game maker being for kids and FPSC being for teens will really throw off some of the business. They should not categorize software by age. Some old dude may find the website looking for a nice way to create 3D games and say he is a beginner, if he sees that sign, he will likely not want to buy the product.

Which ones went up in price. As far as I can tell they're the same as when I purchased them years ago (unless I'm remembering their prices incorrectly) or in the case of AppGameKit significantly cheaper than when I bought it!

I thought that was only for xmas though. And was it really 90%?

$90 - ((90/100)x90) = $9

I know it was about 12GBP at one stage over xmas but I think that ended at 00h00 01/01/2012...

Now I'm confused

No, it's approx. 90% off from the price of all the products put together to make the Dark Game Studio Bonanza. Dark Game Studio itself is itself a money saving bundle. Essentially in buying the bonanza you're saving under £500/£300

The bonanza is $49.99/£31.21 and you still can buy it.

Why is I the only pronoun worthy of capitalization? Why not he, she, you, me, they, we? It seems like a pointless effort, I'm convinced the reason is speed: it's faster to draw a straight line than add a dot, but it's slower to hold shift so why not do away with capitalizing i when typing? If no other pronoun requires capitalization (not even "me" so it's not a self-importance issue) why should i be capitalized? I quite like the look of a lower-case i.

@MrV I don't get the reference and can't find a link.

I like that the forums have more presence now but "Join thousands of game developers in our forums and read over 2 million messages" why would anyone want to read over two million messages? They've been using the >2M line for at least five years, we are probably >3M by now.

It would actually almost be useful if we had a proper hand-crafted search engine.

The 2 Millionth post was 2010 IIRC. Hardly 5 years ago, and we're on 2.2 mill posts now.

Still waiting for that. It's got worse since I last asked for it, now you have to click resend, and agree to some Firefox questions to go back to your search.

I find the easiest way to search the forum is to use google with the "site" function (that's "site:mywebsite.com mykeyword1 mykeyword2"). I tried forum's search a couple of times and it gives me bad results... *sigh* still I can find 90% of what I'm looking for albeit at the cost of some time so I should prolly be happy with what I have

I've tried the Google search, and that doesn't work properly either.

The change in the website and other things, feels kinda of sad to me. DarkBASIC, DarkBASIC Professional transported me back to the "olden days" of VIC 20s, Commodore 64s, Amiga 500s etc. and programming in BASIC. DarkBASIC really made it possible to do what I thought about as a kid messing around with my C64.

When DBPro became free and open source, I knew then that it was the end of an era for us older guys that were drawn to DarkBASIC because it reminded us of our past; and it was so easy to do those cool things that were pretty hard to do on the old machines.

AGK and the new website are like the final nails in the coffin. It's a new generation with different ideas and priorities. I'm not a fan of the new website. It's takes much longer to log in and navigate. The news page reminds me of a splash page of advertisements. It strikes me as busy and cluttered. But I'm a dinosaur so new things don't go down easy on the first bite.

Overall, it all just makes me a little sad because it's definitely the end of an era.

Enjoy your day.

Accidentely saw new main page. Better than was, but, imo, white icons on buttons looks bad, plain and boring.

Surely an update to the site means an update to DarkBASIC Pro?

It seems to me that the update has nullified my ability to login. It ignores my password and email - and refuses to send a password reset. Fortunately, my tablet remained logged in, so I checked my email and password I was using... they were both correct. The email and password resets all claim they are identical to my current data. Not sure what to do at this point.

That could be a major issue, I am constantly signed in and don't want to test it out!

I just found I have the same issue now too...

however I had always had to click login no matter what I did...

but now the login page no longer allows storing of my login credentials...

in IE, but luckily Chrome is still keeping the login cookie...

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP... I HATE USING CHROME!!!

EDIT

OK ignore the above I didn't realise it spawned into in-private window while testing a new update to a website I'm working on BF3 does that to me too... its annoying lol...

however it still always asks me to sign in alll the time... even in chrome often...

however there is an issue with all the icons on the site they have gone all wonkey...

EDIT

My guess is Paul is working on the site right now... he is a night bird like some of us

EDIT

Indi, you naughty boy >.<

EDIT

funny it displays and works under CHROME... looks like cross browser control is broken...
