I upgraded from 1065 to 1073 and I thought the safest way to upgrade is to uninstall the current version and then do a full install.
However, when I try to install I get the following error:

So, now I have no version installed and I can't use AGK.

Any suggestions?

I would be tempted to re-download it again. Also, restarting the PC to clear anything hanging around in memory.

Make sure you do a full uninstall first too...

Backup your projects first too

It's all good.
Downloaded twice, rebooted twice and now it works

Hi Guys,

I've been getting a few of these MSI related installer issues, so I have decided to throw the whole MSI nonsense in the bin and create a brand new installer with NSIS. The great news is that I have tested the new installer and it's much faster to install AppGameKit and get this, it goes from 344MB down to 119MB in size for the same content. Don't ask me why, because I WILL tell you, and Microsoft won't like it.

The new installer is uploading now and should be live by early Wednesday. Hopefully this avoids any more annoying uninstall/reinstall nightmares.

A WORD TO THE NEW: Remember to make a full back-up of everything you hold dear before updating your dev kit, and it's probably not a good idea to update during a time critical project too.

I drink tea, and in my spare time I write software.

Most probably it senses example files which are duplicated and just keeps 1 physical copy in the archive itself and then duplicates them back at install time. Or it has a very powerful file cruncher!

Hurray! I consider putting my flag up 1 day early (Tommorrow is norway's national day) TGC rulez! Finally we're getting where we want to be, when it comes to updating AGK.

I used Advanced Installer, which is powerful. Had no problems at all over many years.

The zip is only the mac files, I dont think unzipping those will update your windows installation to 1074 !

So Lee, why does the file size shrink with installers other than MSI?

yes the ZIP is an identical set of files to that which is installed with the NSIS installer. The reason it is much smaller is that it uses LZ compression which is amazingly good at what it does.
