I just had an idea for an Editor. I think it would work well.

1/ You have an option to add a folder to the editor.
2/ On the folder you can type anything you want including Pseudo Code.
3/ Then you can click on the folder, and type in the real code.
4/ The folders work downwards like a program.

It's just a simple idea, but if you imagine writing out your Pseudo Code on folders first it makes the editor pre organised, and keeps your thoughts roughed out, and also works as REMS without you needing to add any rems to the program.

I made it quickly, but you can type in a lot on these large folders. You could make it so that the back file scrolls up to type in the extra details.

Ahh, so you flesh out the program before touching any real code, nice. Might be cool to have other temporary things at hand, say a character model or a sprite, sound effect even - then that gets replaced eventually just like the psuedo code. Would be pretty cool for teams I think, like assign the folder or item as a task for a particular team member, then track progress really easily.

That's not a bad idea. Code editors are very good at knowing what you've already written, but wouldn't it be nice to give them some hints about what you're going to write? It would help the user too for obvious reasons.

I like the idea...

kind of like doing a function spec sheet before you begin coding you write out a logical script which you follow to code the function...

Interesting... but only slightly different than following written plans...

Seems pretty clever. I do something similar to this in Eclipse with packages, sub-folders, and classes when planning out a new app. The structured hierarchy keeps it clean, organized, and easy to read. A stand alone editor could come in pretty useful.

Sounds a cool idea. If only something like this was an actual plugin to the DBP IDE or Code::Blocks or better still Visual Studio. I use Visual Studio almost on a daily basis and I've always got some text files in my projects which I keep notes, pseudo code, etc. As well as that I also use a fantastic flow chart program called yEd which is free and I can quickly knock up a flow chart of a function before I code it, especially if the function gets a tad complex.

Something like this:

If you were really technically endowed you could make the folders drag, and drop into other programs.

But Pincho, I thought you did all your coding in your head.
I like this idea especially with the addition of flowcharts. I see it working like a mask layer on top of the actual program. You go to the different sections and can add flow chart nodes and pseudo-code but only when you add real code does it edit the actual program. So its like you build up code snippets that the program organises for you. Since you have the whole flowchart laid out all it would be required to do is assemble the snippets in the right order.
