Fraps file size is hugeeee when recording so how long could i most likely record and stay below 70 gigs? I only have 82 gigs left on my pc. How could I stay below that?

.... Uh. Unless you plan on recording a lot, I'd say your fine. But you could do a test run. Figure out how long a 1gb movie is, and then multiply that by 70.

Record with fraps ... Convert to DIVX for good clarity (I personally use WMV HD)

But yeah find your preferred format and convert the clips... Also use the 4GB break points...

Ok what I did was use my external hard drive to save the files on so I do not have to worry about running out of room on my main drive.

You can try to compress your videos in a program like VirtualDub.

fraps uses uncompressed avi. for reference: uncompressed avi, 768x576 pix with 48khz wav-sound attached: ca. 1 gig/min.

fraps is written for FAT32 format in original version, so anyway cuts the video into parts while recording long/bigscreen sessions, you cannot record all in one without editing them together afterwards (where you can do a compression). longest is around 4 gig before gets cut if i remember right.

Agreed. I find it to be one of the best methods. I'm a little late, but you should still consider this.
The video below should tell you everything. It was tuned for youtube settings, but you can easily change the compression features.

Hey, I notice that not very many people mention this, but if anyone is looking for a free screen recorder, MSI afterburner works great.
