Like I said,will my code form dark basic pro work with this or will I have to re write everything?

my signature keeps being erased by a mod So this is my new signature.

You'll have to rewrite a lot of it. The syntax is similar though, so you'll be able to learn AppGameKit and convert your existing code fairly simply.

the AppGameKit mindset is very similar to the DBpro one.
That's why I chose to move on to AGK.

There's a free trial of AppGameKit which includes examples.

The biggest thing is that you have to use parentheses on all functions, and they're camel case instead of space delimited. . One other thing that I've found is that the windows/desktop commands aren't as convenient. There's no wait key command, instead of mousex() it's pointer x (forget the exact command), instead of getkeystate it's getRawKeystate, etc.

AGK has the same environment of DBpro. I you know DBpro, it wont take you more than one month to learn AGK.

One month? If you have experience with DBpro you can do a little test game after 3-4 hours of playing with AGK.
