me and my friend, we are on our voyage into making a game we are calling "Pudgies", it is going to be a game more or less along the lines of "Scorched Earth" and Worms, and the likes.
but i want to know, how would you do the 'world'? i mean like, the terrain(sp?) and the likes. like how deep will the matrix be? 1 tile deep and X wide? would you make it a 2D background with 3d objects? ARG its hard to ask this question!! sorry if i dont make any sence(sp?)

Two words, moo.

You could just use pictures of the object that your friend made (open a viewer of some sort, press print screen, open a simple picture editor like paint, press ctrl+v and then rub out the background/any bits you don't want.

Am I the only one here who's really confused?

you could do it in 3d, with you matrix very long and thin, as long as the camera remained slightly above the matrix so the ground was visible, why not make a test engine with cubes and a wireframe matrix to see?

PoHa!84, by "viewer" i think he meant, just the modeling program that it was made in, like CS3 or 3D Canvas etc...
Just take a screeny of the 3D model then paste that into paint, remove some of the background you don't want, and voila, a 2D image from a 3D model...
