I have a long history here. I have had three different user names. Older members know me as Jordan Stories Games (JSG) or Cool Guy Jordan (CGJ). Now I am Zeus. I started off as a complete n00b and posting games that didn't even make sense, reading it now it is quite comical. I have had some of the best times here at TGC. I have laughed, gotten mad, and just sometimes emotional. I have never been part of a better community. As you know, it is has been a long time since I have been on here. Making these games is a time that has come and passed. I felt it was proper to give this community a proper goodbye. Thank you TGC for always being there even when I was a total n00b in the beginning.

Goodbye, TGC.

You can't leave, Zeus. If you do, there's no telling what Sepp will do to Mount Olympus once you're gone.

Least I haven't seen him since then.

At any rate, good luck in life.

Aww, Zeus was loads of fun back in the good old days with ye olde DarkBASIC Classic. I'm sad that you've decided to leave (although everyone knows that you can't actually leave TGC).

May I ask, what have you moved on to doing?

Don't get the whole 'leaving' thing. I spent a long time working on Android, and also played around in OpenGL+Ogre3D but didn't feel the need to close the door on this community, just because I used some different tools.

People always post these. It smacks of attention seeking, "Please massage my ego by telling me how much you'll miss me" to me. Or perhaps elitism "I've finally graduated from your beginner ranks. Look how good I am."

Can't think of another reason!

Ah c'mon now, you are just too tight to splash out on the cake to hand around at your own goodbye party I promise to get a silver plated picture frame for you if that helps

And I don't get what you are on about with the Elitism attitude...

Right, now once I have finished coding for the day I think I'll jump in the pool for a dip or possibly walk to the beach. On my gold trainers. Scratch that last sentence

How's the car BTW? Graduated back to big boy wheels? You will *never* guess what I'm driving these days...

Nope. Last car was a BMW M3. Clue was in my post though.

I actually haven't been out of shorts since like April. And when I heard 'wee boy pants' I first thought of those nappy adverts where they are "a big boy now!". Close enough, and probably something to look forward to in a few years.

Ooooh! I love guessing games...its a Studebaker Avanti....'the car that never dies'.
I tried to leave once but they found me wandering the streets and put me back. Whats that big shiny thing in the sky? I did miss the spoon though.

I just left clues as to how long I've been here in this dungeon.

The comments are often "I've outgrown DBP.", "It's too limiting" etc. It's totally fine to feel that way and try something else, but it's elitist to make a big point of it, and sell yourself as superior because you're trying something else. Not saying that's what Zeus is doing btw! It's just you see it a lot, and those people have never made anything anyway!

I'm doing a bit better than the Passat. Now have a Mondeo Zetek TCDI estate. A little step up from the Passat. Need it for the dog. But more to the point, I have added this badger to my garage ...

Take my last car. And say the Turbo Scooby I had once. And then completely go in the *total* opposite direction. Even go past the shame and humilation that Fallout surely feels after his fall from grace (is it a Smart Car now Fallout? Ooh ooh, say it's a Brabus ForTwo so we can all have a good laugh).

Quote: "Come on then. Tell me what lunacy you're driving?"
Well ok. Apart from now and again driving the wife's Lotus Elise, I have.... duh duh duh... absolutely nothing! Honestly for the first time in like 17 years I have no car whatsoever of my own. I had a tear in my eye getting rid of the M3, but I have no commuting here, so is hard to justify. I might get one around the new year but nothing amazing there either. Totally liberating dude. And it's nice to be driven around Heh, must stop the itch though. Ooh, Supra. Ooh, Celica GT. Ooh, RX8. Ooh, *another* M3 It's going to be a Yaris I can tell

@Dazzag - You pathetic shell of a man! I hope you at least have a petrol lawnmower!

I didn't skim your post, but I didn't put two and two together. I think was distracted by the shine from my gold toilet as I replied using my custom made diamond encrusted gesture based wall sized internet surfing interface.

But now it makes sense.

Indeed. It's like the Matrix in here for layers apon layers of people who have left and never ever (*ever*) come back. If you don't get it then Raven was like Trinity and Indi was like Neo. Or the other way around if you know what I mean.

Realistically though it is a very long trek to get back to this forum. Fair do's.

Matrix? - More like 'Lord of the Flies'

Raven and Indi are both Piggy... and the giant boulder represents reality.

I don't see the point in leaving a place like this - there are plenty of sections for modelling, artwork, design etc that don't necesserily involve TGC languages. You just won't find the same spread and variety of experience and skillsets in most other forums.

I'll never leave, save for giant falling boulders of course.

Well, when you went and got yourself a life Megaton, the rest of us remained in our basements raging at people on the internet. Except Dazzag who's probably sat on a beach somewhere being massaged by Cypriate women whilst about 5 metres away from a WiFi hotspot.

This is true. Don't matter what tools you're using, nobody escapes. Despite some of the clashes of differences between the different types of people we sometimes get and sometimes the raging, I still prefer this community above any other. I do appreciate that people aren't afraid to give honest criticism, sometimes that can be misguided or even used at times it might be deemed inappropriate, but I think it can be a good thing.

Well some of us can afford the massive journey it takes each and every day to click on the bookmarked button and reply to a thread. I admit I need at least an hour or two meditation to contemplate reading these boards for the lonely 2 or 3 minutes I put into it every day.... The horror...

Quote: "Except Dazzag who's probably sat on a beach somewhere being massaged by Cypriate women whilst about 5 metres away from a WiFi hotspot"
Now now. The beach is (literally) about 5 minutes walk away (about a 2 minute drive to Aphrodite's Rock if you have heard of that), so the pool has to do. And I'm married so the wife massages me while I toil at the keyboard all day... Although yes I believe I can still get wifi at the beach...

Quote: "I still prefer this community above any other"
True true. I came for the coding (like more than 12 years ago now) and stayed for the idiot comments. Aaaahhhh... I did actually not even check the boards for 6 months or more at a time during the years, but didn't feel compelled to announce to everyone that I was "leaving" every time.

And NOW I am leaving!!!!! Well for about 5 minutes or so while I powder my nose, sort of speak, and then contemplate the beauty of the sunset on the sea. And errorlogs. Always errorlogs...

Cheers
