Thought I would share this. I am playing with the 3D commands - wow, I am impressed.

Find attached a little example program showing a tree.

Anyone can use the models (.obj) or textures for anything (took me about 10 min’s to create). A mention would be nice but not needed for anything commercial.

Some of you may want to play with the commands and not have anything at hand, so just use this.

Good luck and thanks (again) to TGC for another amazing product.

P.S. as I understand it the facebook commands don’t work on windows yet. Will they ever ?, Or have I got it wrong and they do work ?

I am just happy we can even do 3D, been waiting a whole year for it... at least you can begin creating a game world for now... some people are just never satisfied...

Well, I can't imagine a 3D game with no animations, but I didn't think of it this way, :

But I guess I'll just wait for it to get sorted out

It's unlikely as I understand it, there is no Facebook SDK for applications. Here is how I shared links in the Love Hearts app:

I cannot open the tree demo on my Windows XP laptop.
I would like to know from TGC if they want to support XP, or the XP support shall be discontinued. In the latter case, I'll remain stuck to 1.076 till I will buy another PC, or change development platform.

I'm looking into this now as XP users cannot use my Character Workshop. I'll let you know. In the meantime have an AppGameKit Developer badge for all the games you've published and let me or another Mod know if you think anyone else that deserves a badge hasn't got one!

Cheers

The bug causing a crash on XP has now been fixed by Paul and should be in the next release. Thought you'd like to know

Cool. Can we assume that the other issues about include files are also be dealt with?

When might we see the next 108 (beta)?

I don't really know what the other issues are but I'm sure that if TGC are made aware of them via the bug board they will be dealt with ASAP. I just know about this one because I asked what we were doing about XP issues like this one and Paul just emailed to say that one was fixed.

As to when the next beta version will be out I have no idea. I didn't even know this one was coming out until I checked the forum sorry.

As far as I know - the missing files only affects those programming in C - this was made using Basic. Source code is included for anyone to see and use. It is nothing exciting.

(I never get what is tier 1 and tier 2)

It effects anyone compiling in C/C++ which can include BASIC users. If you tried to compile this for iOS, Android etc, you'd run into a spot of trouble. But I'm sure TGC will release the necessary files in good time.

Tier 1 = BASIC
Tier 2 = C++

Hodgey is correct. You cannot compile the Xcode interpreter_ios because of the missing files (and missing libraries), so you cannot build an iOS AppGameKit app with v108 beta.

There has not been 1 AppGameKit update where the templates worked 100% out of the box!!!

This isn't about templates, since there aren't any at all with v108.

it's ALL about templates for the T2 user.
The Interpreter Template for v108 can't even be compiled because there are missing libs and .h files

Lets continue the template discussion here.

I knew it was only a matter of time before that popped up.

@Jammy: I haven't tried your demo yet as I'm mostly on my mac now but the screenshots look great, keep up the good work!

I'm severely tempted to try Pascal just because you are so persistent Jim

Yup, that is discussed here.

But, technically, that is not a template, it is an interpreter.

When people talk about templates, they mean the ones for Tier 2 development.

The v108 beta release is only good for testing Tier 1 in Windows, with no Player support.

I'm not being evangelical. It's just that Erik has put a huge amount of highly professional work into translating the interfaces and creating the AGKScene concept (the answer to many an involved debate on the forum) and he deserves to be remembered when we talk about T1 T2 etc.

But I do think Pascal is "cleaner" than C++ syntactically, and Basic programmers may find it easier to use to step up a power level.

I think I might come back to you on that one, but seriously I think anything that is as highly recommended by someone as knowledgeable as yourself is always worth looking at. Now I just need more than ten minutes of "free time" (I think that's what it's called) to have a look at Pascal...
