Hi,

We'd like to offer a Kickstarter badge to anyone in the forum who has backed FPS Creator Reloaded.

First we need a badge creating. BigAdd, are you the man for the job?

The kickstarter logos are here;
http://www.kickstarter.com/help/style_guide

So maybe some kind of merge of the flag system with the "K" from Kickstarter?

We need to set this up quick, so let me know who can help with this.

Cheers,

Rick

Although I am certain BigAdd can do this asap, but what dimensions?

If I were to take a wild guess. Just a completely at random, I'd say 27x27 and 50x50.

I would suggest against making it Kickstarter specific, but for anyone who has donated money to TGC projects. I would suggest a boot kicking a bag of money, or maybe a +1 or 1UP for a more gamey feel or simply a dollar sign "$". If you're going to do different badges for different projects in future they could have different colour ribbons with the same "medal".

I've "reverse-engineered" one of BigAdd's badges and made a template that can be used to easily make badges of any colour. Just load the attached file into GIMP, fill the base layer with whatever colours you want, then use the colourization tool (colours > colorise) on the shading layers to adjust the colour as desired. There is probably an easier way of doing this but I don't know it.

Shh... you're pretty.

As you can see the badge is live!

Let me know if you are a backer. I need your full name used on the Kickstarter pledging system.

No offence intended to xtom2, but that badge ruins the set.

I rather like it; it's different and doesn't blend in with the others. Meaning, it stands out more.

I like the badge as well, it stands out from the rest. And it's one of the those badges that can't be earned after this is over.

Hi,

I'm open to having a new badge designed if the community feel it should happen. We just had to move fast to get something done.

Yeah, being a 'paid for' badge as opposed to an 'earned' badge, I don't think it should resemble the rest. In fact I think it might well be considered a temporary badge until the program is released, at which time we will receive our rewards for the loan. As for the looks of it, I like it.

I think the backer badge should remain after the program is released. It shows faith in TGC and encourages people to follow suit in future funding campaigns.

I think there should be multiple backer badges, for those who are Silver, Gold, Platinum, Immortal, etc. backers are properly represented.

Edit: And no, I'm not proposing that because I want a shiny badge... I can only afford to donate 30 or 40 pounds.

I didn't like the badge at first but it does stand out, otherwise people wouldn't be complaining about it!

People would prefer to have no badge, than a badge that says they contributed less than others.

That was my concern when the badge was first applied, it points out those who haven't backed and those people could have very legitimate reasons.

I don't think that's a problem though. Nobody is going to judge someone harshly because they didn't support a product they weren't interested in. TGC aren't a charity. I mean I don't donate money to the Kitten Tightrope Walking charity because I happen to not be very interested in tightrope walking kittens. Doesn't make me a bad man.

I don't see why this would be an issue, I haven't backed because I quite simply do not want to. I'm not going to be of any benefit from backing a project that I'm not going to be using.

Or have I misunderstood the point you were trying to make here?

You could argue the same about any of the badges, though. I mean, I don't have a badge, but that's not an issue because I don't qualify for any.

As you can see from this thread; this has ramifications for an improved DBP as well, which could branch out to all applications TGC supports/produces. I hope you consider that, when making up your mind.

Also; you can grab the banner in my signature (made by Nickydude), using this code here:

A very good reason to back if you're not interested in FPSCR.

I've just backed it. Roll on the betas.

Silver backers and above already get their names in the credits for FPSCR itself, so I don't see why getting a nice shiny badge would be a problem.

Lee has already said the first order of business would be to get DBPro 77 finished so that he can get started on 80. He's still going to use DBPro for the engine and there has to be some updates to it so that he can do some of the things he wants to do for FPSC reloaded. I'm not sure what that would be but it might be useful to most DBPro programmers.

Thanks for your pledges everyone; it all helps out. Remember; pledge now and nothing's taken out of your account until the 1st of December...you don't need to wait for your paycheck next week! This is also a good way of getting major improvements in DBP, as FPSC:R and DBP go hand in hand.

Just also check your account status after you pledge.
My bank froze my account after pledging for some reason.
I'm just glad I wasn't out of town low on fuel or paying after eating a meal.

They don't take funds when you pledge so it's odd that your account was frozen

yeah mate, tell me about it. first time I have ever actually used my card on the net. went to buy some groceries today and had my transaction declined. a bit annoying and embarrassing having to walk out empty handed. went to the bank fearing the worst as I knew there was meant to be a fair amount of money there. Bendigo bank will freeze your account if you use your debit card online it turns out.

nice feature, but it woulda saved me a heart attack had they have just told me up front.

I believe some companies will take a small amount out to check the if bank account is valid the first time you use their service. After making my pledge I noticed at a cash machine the amount it said was available was slightly smaller than the amount in my account, so it looks like that it may have been the case for KS. However, the amount you pledge is not taken until 1st Dec, so nobody should be worried if they don't have the money quite yet. Heck, it's why I didn't pledge straight away, then KeithC told me how it works.

Also, always a good idea to check if you can purchase online with your bank. I have also had my account frozen before, but that was because the bank suspected somebody was trying to commit fraud on my account, turns out it was true, but luckily no money was taken. Ain't fun, especially when you do have stuff to pay.

I made my pledge yesterday and apparently they only update every 10, mine was around 232 it is now 258~

I really want to show support here on the forum to hopefully get more forumites to pledge but I am still waiting on my badge, I am only stressing this because, well there's just 18 days to go... I am quite all over the forum so it would be pretty good for me to show mine

I just do not know where to or who to ask to attach mine... and then I do not know how to make it next to my Avatar in the large version...

Thanks!

I'll pledge the 40 pounds so I can access the beta. Not really interested in FPSC but a major DBP update sounds awesome!
