Hi, I haven't posted any in the last month or two and was just popping in to say what's up. I dealt with robotics for a good 6 weeks so that's mostly what I've been doing. How about you guys?

Welcome back.

I've actually spent the last 8 weeks at uni learning to program a simple robot powered by an Arduino board. In the end we had to program the robot to traverse a maze using infared sensors. It was a lot of fun...when the sensors were working and we eventually got the robot to work as expected.

Now that you've heard my story, lets hear yours.

Also I am moving in with my partner who lives in London! So its been a great weekend!

I have read about people making their own drones powered by Arduino!

Congratulations!

Some people even build spider-like bots, pretty cool stuff. While I had a lot of fun working on the robot, I think I'm going to stick to pure software for a while. Debugging software is one thing, but when working with hardware, you need to work out if the problem is with the hardware setup or the code, or both! Suddenly problems take a long time to solve, even by a programmer's standard.

Well, I had 6 weeks to engineer, build, and program a robot that could climb a pole and pick up objects with a claw. I had no kit or anything. We had a drill, a sander, and a bandsaw for tools, that's pretty much it. We did end up finishing it, however. The arm wasn't amazing though. More of a stabbing robot than anything. Our servos weren't powerful enough to lift the link, so we ended up using a motor at the last minute. I did all of it for this thing called "BEST robotics competition". I was the head engineer for our school.
