Well you should have waited for the Desura Version, as its greatly improved, priced at 15$ and I guess the sale will start on monday there

However, use this hotfix:

THX! I took Wolfs rants about normal mapping slightly into advice and de-normalized the elements of texture maps that woldnt appear bumpy in reality. you see it on the wall, the marble plates are of course plane and polished, the relief elements of stone are bumped. The retexturing of the ww2 desk does the same, the Wood is still bumped like hell (and matured), while the plate is plane.

So the Desura update isn't going to be a patch, but rather all of the improvements are Desura exclusives?

No, Desura is a totally overhauled version. All improvements will be included in a patch, but creating the diff file alone will take a week at least.

Desura Version should be online in a few hours, they are testing the installer right now and all data is already in Melbourne.

And here is the secret outdoor level everyone missed:

Oh no, just kidding! THis is a screenshot from our next game "Highlanf Warriors Battlecry", which is basically cotnract work and therefore not that community-driven.

However, FINALLY INTO THE DARK HAS LAUNCHED ON DESURA!

For only 12 Euro / 15 Dollar (incl. Tax!) you get the single player campaign of Into the Dark with all shiny improvements, 2 additional weapons, 2 additional chars, 1 additional level and the full movie "Night of the Living Dead".

GO FOR IT!

Hi all, there is something new: As some of you know, the preparations for the sequel to "Into the Dark", a trashy voyage "Into the Ice", have started. Don ´t expect a version soon, as we want to wait for the first usable beta version of FPSC-R to make the decision on which engine the game will be rolled out.

However, I did some grass-root work to develope texturing / shading techniques that will come up useful no matter which engine will be choosen in the end. Here is a first video:

At the moment I am very stressed to finish "Highland Warriors", and in Adition to that I am the Producer for Realsm of Arkania which should be Goldmastered Mid of June, so I am very stressed right now.

Steamworks implementation is a no-go on DBPro, so it will be "sales deal only" steam version.

Well, as its the sequel to "Into the Dark", fighting the mechanical beasts won´t be the only option you have. Perhaps some clever hacking to turn steel-based foe into friend?

Doesn´t work with this entity yet, but we`ll spend some more time on that when the first FPSC-R Alpha rolls out.

BTW, Into the Dark Special Edition is now on sale, for 30 more hours you can get it cheaper than 9 Euros HERE!

Just to let you now, Into the Dark is on firesale again...

...this time with Alpha Access for Into the Ice (and of course George Romeros Zombie Classic "Night of the living dead") for € 8,99 only!

And Wolf made a minimod for the game, very apreciated!

I still believe that he secretely plays my games in a weird mood mixed of disgust, disbelieve and fascination, whispering phrases like "Its so ugly... so wrong... can´t stop looking at it..."

Honestly I played it in a similar mood halfway through but then I had a phase of like a week where I had almost no sparetime and didnt get back into it after that. However, I did watch the lets play of "gametube" all the way through

Quote: ""Its so ugly... so wrong... can´t stop looking at it...""

Yeah! Sometimes I really thought you put THAT here just to mess with me personally... Like claiming that objects that spawn AFTER you need it as a feature.

Best luck with the into the ice preproduction! I see thats already going on.

Well it has been a long time since the last update . however, there are some news:

1. We have decided that all Desura customers of "Into the Dark" will get access to the Alphas (not the full game!!!) of "Into the Ice", too.

2. We are rolling out the Alphas with FPSC first, but will switch to FPSC-R when the first one has arrived.

3. You can watch several screenshots and read informations about the new gameplay elements (Freezing, warming up...) on our INDIEDB Page.

4. Today I made a re-texture and shading job of JFLetchers Rogue.

When I heard you was making the next one in arctic climate, I thought I wonder if Ertlov would like a skybox I have from my personal skybox art of a crashed flying saucer in arctic landscape with smoke billowing out from it. Let me know if you do and Ill find it out, I have to find drivers though to make my usb to ide work on a mac, as I dont have working PCs anymore. For the UFO fight scene in the last scene of into the dark, if I had known the last scene was quite bear, I would of made a skybox with a mothership UFO for you, when I saw the video playthrough I thought the last screen was a little bare, a good skybox would of fixed that.

Anyway, let me know if you want me to find the arctic saucer crash skybox.

I also have favor, my German translator is not responding, must be on holiday. I have to translate for one of my mobile apps.

Do you know German word for these two words
home
calculator

are these correct?
previous - zurück
next - vor

home and previous needs to be 5 characters or less, calculator needs to be 3 characters, so may need to abbreviate.

I jump in here if you don't mind. German is my native language aswell.
Quote: "
home"

heim (house/place)
heimat (country/heritage)
home (computer (we use the english word too...absolutely correct would be "startseite" tough))

Quote: "calculator"

Rechner
(I cant think of any 3 letter word)

Quote: "are these correct?
previous - zurück
next - vor"

yes (altough strictly speaking "zurück" means back "previous" means "vorherige". But in an app, your choice is correct.

If you can deliver that to meet FPSC-R specs, I would appreciate it and of course link you in to the ITI Alpha access.

And here for some news:

1. You can now get Into the Dark within the "Horror Bundle" @ indiebundele.org, together with some other nice games. If you raise your payment to 7$, you will also get enola and the Into the Ice Alpha!

2. There is still some time left on the Indiegogo, with 3$ contributed so far. By Nicolas Laukemann, of course
As we haven´t calculated any cash from there for our budget plan, I will most likely buy some sweets for my daughter that will contribute some of the children voices in the game
However, it´s also an opportunity to get cheap package deals for our games.

As some of you already know, the 6th place in the IotY charts and some other very favorable mentions of our game all around the world lead to an interesting situation - we are going to steam. And I´m not talking about greenlight.

However, this also means we have to re-open the project and make a final run on the stabilty and quality of the game. Yes, steamworks is an issue, but more important, the occasional crashes and faults won´t be tolerated on steam as easy as they are on desura. As you fellow FPSC devs know, it´s all about the RAM, as the memory footprint is the reason for more than 90% of all FPSC crashes.

We are now trying to reduce the memory usage by 10-15%,, which should be enough.
However, we don´t do that by reducing the quality of the assets or the amount of ingame content. On the contrary, we are aiming for better visuals in 3 main areas:

- Shadered objects: The glossyness of surfaces that don´t reflect like hell in real life will be removed (no more shining Wood, Mr. Wolf! )
- Mirrored textures: All textures that were made seamless by mirroring are either reworked or replaced by real seamless textures.
- Post process pipeline: A unified PP pipeline that combines some tricks from Bond and Darkgoblin as well as other clever ideas from other board members here, shamelessly stolen and tweaked by me.

First work-in-progress results are seen here:

FULL PICTURE

FULL PICTURE

Note that the segment texture resolution itself is the same on the "New" and "Old" pictures!

I am also waiting for quotes from some recording studios on the costs of re-recording the voice overs. So well, again a lot of work to do!

Hi guys (and ladies!), just a quick update:

We have finished the work on the steam edition last week. We put a huge amount of work into the game, ironing out as many glitches as possible, re-recording and post-producing almost all voice overs again, eliminating all script errors, optimizing memory (we save between 20 and 60 MB of RAM per level) while boosting the visual quality. Ah, yes, and thanks to Ben we support Oculus Rift.

approx. 420 work hours were put into the game during the last 4 months, and it payed off: On thursday we were informed that we passed the Valve Review on first try. THe game will be released on Steam during the first days of May.

Fun fact: Although the game is totally uncut (and protected by the 18+ AgeGate), we had to blur out private parts and naked female breasts in the marketing material that will be used by Valve online.
