Hello.

Please forgive my intrusion but I have a question that I think only the 'internet' can resolve.....

I've just bought a new laptop. A Samsung NP355V5C.
It has the following specs... (and please bear with me)
x64 AMD A8-4500M APU CPU @ 1.90 GHz
Radeon HD GFX (*sigh* shared)
6Gb Ram
1 Tb HDD

Against what I originally wanted (And that was an I5...)
x64 i5 3210M
Intel HD 4000 GFX
6Gb RAM
1TB HDD

I guess the question I'm asking is, Have I made the right choice bearing in mind I want my new laptop to do the following:
AGK (Windows, Android, Windows Phone...);
DBPro;
VirtualBox (Infrequent);

And playing the following games every now and then;
Windows Solitaire...
Star Trek Armada 1 & 2; (works in XP mode so no issues there)
Star Trek Online; (worked on my old laptop....)

Let the internet be the judge!! (Trust be the internet!) lol

It shouldn't struggle with the things you've listed, since you've already bought it the only way to find out is to try.

I could return it, no questions asked........ lol

Shut up are you from near me!

How dare the 'internet' be so small! (joke) So where abouts in the toon are you located? If it helps, I used to live in Fenham where the internet was faster than a fast thing! lolz I'm not in a telewest area so have to live with "up to 40Mb" fibre broadband. Which means I get about 6Mb. Ive tested it. It's shamefull I know.

Well what are the specs on your old laptop? If the games ran fine on there, we could use that as a comparison.

I live in Kenton, so we were pretty close eh? ISPs measure in Megabits, is that 6 megabytes you're getting?

If you wanted the i5, then why'd you get the AMD chip?

The CPU won't make a whole lot of difference in what you're running, but the GPU will. How good is that Radeon?

I'm getting 9Mbps at the minute on that fibre broadband. I have gotten 38Mbps when it was first installed but it's slowly decreased in speed until now.

As for the Radeon, I'm sure it's a lot better than the Intel jobbie in the i5. I'm not too fussed about the laptop, I like it because it's all shiny and new, just was wondering what the 'internet' had to say about it. Perhaps I'll install some kind of game on it and see how it fares.
