Lets see, so much has changed.

• I moved to another game language and made a lot of cashola and systems for a few people, no need to spruke another language. I went back to lecturing a few places for game dev but it bores me to tears.

• Finally met all the relos in Norway, had a blast but spent way too much time having fun.

• Got married to a lovely Japanese lady, I go back to Japan once a year and love it for the tech, culture and food.

• No kids but we are considering it, more darkbasic minions in the future perhaps

• I gave up all bad things, booze, smoking etc and turned to Buddhism with my own jazz infused western elements.

• Rented out the apartment up north to some boys and moved closer to the beach whilst my wife changes her career into nursing.

• Going to invest in a Mc Mansion on the gold coast next and chill out in the mountains behind the strip.

• Still have too many computers in the room but a lot more sensible now with only about 10 in here

• Logo's, lol only rarely now, I moved more into advertising and media side of things.

• Made a new handle from a very old icon i made here and renamed myself llamapixel

• Social media 2.0 stuff like video instagram-ish sites have become a hobby. One of my favourite and hated ones at the moment is Viddy www.viddy.com/llamapixel

• Ragequit - guess so lessons are worthy to grow. I still tell you exactly what I think but with a few filters nowadays

• DT lol what a scope creeping monster of fun and pain that was. The procedural generation bug had me then as it has me today.

• Caught up with a few oldbies, Webby is doing motion graphics at parties on the side, tdboy something similar but both doing games. Moondog is on the facebook working hard. Zen also.

yay for penguins

Welcome back Indi! I'm a bit after your time.

Good to hear you turned your life around.

Quote: "Going to invest in a Mc Mansion on the gold coast next and chill out in the mountains behind the strip."

The gold coast is a nice place; I've only been there twice. I'm a bit south of you in Sydney. I might be visiting the gold coast sometime.

TGC both gained and lost a member last year. Baxslash joined the TGC team and now puts his skills and AppGameKit to the test. Mike Johnson has chosen a new path, I hope he does well.

Forum is a little quieter, but also calmer, it's very rare for a flame war to break out.

AGK's out and doing well, there's people using it to win competitions and make games for the mobile market, TGC included, with Baxslash being the new addition to the TGC team.

New features (as you can see) have been added like the badge system and of course, Presidency, each year we elect a new president around June/July, they have no real power, but it's more of a community thing (like a class president I guess). Also, you can embed Youtube videos now.

There are some new awesome titles out from the TGC community, 2 worth checking in the WIP section are Carnage and Sword of Ahkranox. Carnage is currently looking for Kickstarter funding, Sword of Ahkranox already has it and is looking pretty epic and is expecting release early this year.

TGC have full funding for their next project, FPSC: Reloaded. A mystery private investor gave them loads of money and of course, the community has contributed.

tha_rami set up Vlambeer with a friend and said goodbye to DBP, but managed to create some great indie titles like Super Crate Box and Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, earning themselves some fame. Sadly, he doesn't visit very frequently anymore.

The latest Star Wraith game is available on Steam.

Moondog (now going by his real name) of course joined the modsquad...and I don't think BiggAdd was one when you left, but he's been one for a few years now.

I'm currently working on my project in Unity3D and also playing with DarkGDK.NET (which doesn't have anywhere near as much love as it should). I still haven't actually completed any of my projects, but I got a fairly substantial demo last year in DBP. The project in Unity is almost at that stage.

Err...I think that sums it up, but I'm prolly missing plenty of other things.

I don't think people disliked Indi, I think it was just a bad situation 5 years ago, there was tension and flame wars and to be fair, I think most have moved on. The forum is a lot less volatile than it was 5 years ago too.

So I think you're right, time heals. This forum is missing a lot of good members who used to post here.

Evening. These forums are like a black hole, and you only escape in your dreams... Now we just need Raven back, some really long posts (esp about Nintendo hardware), and the circle will be complete. Also I don't drink as much as I used to.

I don't remember it that way (not that I remember much at the best of times). All I remember is one big flame war at the end. Apart from that I've probably talked to Indi more than anyone else here over the years (you would understand if you saw the post counts about 2000/2001) and never had a bad thing to say about him.

Cheers

If my decade long assumption that you are all forum bots created by Rich for my amusement is correct, then possibly he has a compilation error. Possibly too many characters in the buffer On a much less likely scenario it could also be that he has re-joined with a different name and not announced it. Look for people with really long posts that disagree a lot with people And it's not me as I've been here practically forever

Quote: "Asheron pops his/her head in now"
Heheh, yeah wow that was a while back. I always thought it amusing about the webcomic Misfile considering the main character is called Ash (considering the character has been both male and female)

Oh and I totally forgot what the original post was all about. So let's see what's happened to me in half a decade. Not much. Moved country (Cyprus). Moved back (UK). Got married. Moved country (Cyprus again). I now have a cat and a pool, but no car (wife does). I too (thank God) now live right next to the sea again. Not quite as near as Uni (literally was just a standard road inbetween sea and hotel I stayed for 2nd year) but near enough that I can walk to it and back easily in a lunch hour.

Cheers

That's pretty bad memory right there. I'm 40 in a month, and my memory has always been really patchy (heheh, erm, yes of course XCoolProgrammer123 I remember our witty banter from 2004 and how we were really great mates and I remember you really well and have not in no way totally forgotten everything including your name!... erm...), but how can you forget Raven???

Actually my memory has always been a hassle. Good example is when I joined Facebook I got a friend request from a bloke I had no recollection of whatsoever, but we were best mates on our Grifter bikes as a kid apparently, another from 2 birds (really pretty fit too) that reckoned I was a right laugh at school, and another from a bloke who basically said something along the lines of "You were the number one person who I remember from Uni and would love to meet again, as well as my best mate who thinks the same thing". Don't remember any of them. At all. I accepted them all, but apart from the hotties (fair enough) it's a bit sad that now I don't remember who they are at all from my friends list. And I only have about 100 friends...

Heh, and there was at least 2 or 3 times where I had a great time with a bird the night before (read into that what you will) and then didn't see her for a day or two and then totally forget their names. Honest. Most times it was an eyebrow waggle and ignore in the corridor, but once I got talking to this bird again before I had to admit I didn't know her name. Didn't go down well. Basically, to sum up, I used to drink an awful lot in those days, have a terrible memory, and was a bit of a git to women. Ah, those were the days... At least I know I'm not going senile; I just have always been massively forgetful.

Quote: "Did anyone rise up and finally make a title worth checking out?"
Dunno. Just spend most of my time here talking garbage. Nothing much changes To be honest I moved programming languages years ago, I just come back for this forum.

Cheers

DBP Projects?

Carnage and Sword of Ahkranox are pretty damn good. Sword of Ahkranox got voted in the top 100 indies game of the year, even though it's not been released yet.

If you remember tha_rami, his new stuff (but non DBP) is worth checking out. Though, the only game of his I've really played is Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, which I bought on Steam and it was good fun.

Richard Davey seems to be doing well for himself these days, you might remember him going to work for Aardman after leaving TGC and doing some web design for them. But since then he's done a few games prolly worth checking out.

Oh and zzz finally finished Soulhunter, arguably, that's definitely worth checking out.

Also, PonyCraft: Tainted Skies is looking promising, even if you're not a pony fan.

Bad memory and names. When I was an art student I was with people for 2 years, couldn't remember there names and had to use nicknames. I still cant remember the art history's teachers name, always called him Bad Billy Baldy. Or the art tutor, dont even know what she was a tutor off, she always looked kind of desperate for a man so I called her Cat Lady, then there's Betty Bullsh*t, always a tall story, couldn't even tell you her real name to this day.

Yep. I once forgot one of my best mates names while on holiday from Uni. It made me miss a really cool lads holiday because I seriously couldn't remember his name and didn't want to look like a dufus when I phoned him...

Oh, and I remembered one of the birds names about 10 years later. It was Grace. One of the others was a daywalker so no great loss , but she claimed she couldn't remember my name either. At the time totally couldn't believe that. Like as if. I was well impressed with myself at the time

Quote: "and had to use nicknames"
When I started this job (good God it's been 18 years almost...) I had to produce a list of work people had done in the department for the week. It was then used by our manager in the weekly meeting with upper management. After a while my manager half told me off for using nicknames for some people on an official document, so I changed them to their initials like everyone else. Then the MD got in touch to use nicknames again because no-one knew who Steve and Paul were (only Rab and Parrot).

As an aside it had been many years since I had talked to Rab (departments change etc) and a while back I was congratulating him on his new child. When I called him Rab everyone in his department was like "Who is Rab?" etc. I then filled them in. He has always hated the name, so it was good to re-introduce it to a new generation now that it apparently has been forgotten.

Cheers

Hey Indi! I was a regular back in the early days (1999-2001) but my alias changed quite a bit. You were the one who designed my very first logo for a website when I was going under the name "Mogwai Entertainment" back in 2000. I still have a local copy of that logo and still think it looks pretty awesome

I got sidetracked and wasn't frequently on here in the later 2000s, but came back with the launch of AGK. Most recently a game I developed with it won the App Innovation Contest ($10k prize). Welcome back, I guess I missed whatever drama transpired in years past.
