One of my classes this semester is called Senior Portfolio, which is basically instruction on building a résumé (and for graphic design majors like me, a demo reel of some kind) as well as doing a client-based project to put in a portfolio for business/management experience.

It must be enough work that will reasonably fill out a 16-week period of time, and probably should involve either animation or some other kind of computer graphic design (media advertisement, marketing, etc). It also is supposed to be for a business, even a small one, or a nonprofit organization, not just a project for a friend or some other person.

I'm wondering if any of you have had to do something similar or would have any advice for where to look for a client that needs this kind of graphic design work done.

There are all kinds of freelance job boards online.

Since you kind of have specifics in order for the project to meet requirements, you may want to brain storm and kind of come up with a package deal for the potential clients... you know what I mean?

Say you want to target a small bar or club
What would they need to have designed and setup in order to give them a presence in the area. Digital and Print.

Look at what vistaprint and uprinting offers to get some ideas.

If you do this, you will have a service ready to sell to them. Instead of letting them start to ask you to do things, that can turn in to a huge headache.
