Hello, forum people.

I am very disappointed of new wave of 'amazing' casual devices, current and upcoming.
We have PC, Wii and DS for cool casual experience, but that's fine enough.

Where is something really new? (and not on android?)

Here is a real interesting device that at least tries to show us some NEW experience.

Nettle is a Russian company that presents Nettlebox.

P.S. and it has integration with Unity 3d

edit: changed site link to english version

That's pretty cool, but the screen glare takes some of the effect away.

Shh... you're pretty.

@Dark basic dude79

There is a link to the site at the opening post.

Quote: "The MotionParallax3D technology used in the Nettle product line is employed in the following way:

The user wears special 3D glasses with active infrared markers
The tracking system monitors the position of the markers and pinpoints their exact location in space
The 3D engine uses the marker location data to generate two projections of the 3D scene (one for each of the viewer’s eyes)
Both projections are sequentially displayed on the screen (among the display technologies used for this purpose are plasma screens and projection equipment)
The user perceives a stereoscopic image owing to the 3D glasses"

Awww, you gotta wear glasses with it? I was excited 'til I saw that. I no longer care about it now.

I'm sure you could do away with the glasses somehow, with better facial recognition technology, such a thing sounds eminent.

Glasses are really needed for full 3d effect. ALso, it is impossible now to do stereo effect like in nintendo 3ds (or other similar screens) because here is unlimited view angles.

But I am sure that you could wear position device separatley from glasses.

Microsoft are working on a version which beams the picture directly into your eyes (sounds a bit sci-fi). Essentially they use a sensor to track your head, then use a special screen to project the images into each eye.

The lenses they overlay the screen with can be used as a camera, to capture input data too. There is another video like the one above where they show this feature. They stick a sticky note on the screen which is then instantly captured by the system.

Pretty impressive stuff. This is why I love Microsoft.

The nettle won't be a viable industrial piece until it can get more than one user looking at it, which is almost impossible, given the way it works. Similar things have been done using the Wiimote - ie, head tracking and subsequent screen distortion.

That Microsoft video is cool though, with the two person tracking. Their applications are a little naff so far, but it would be amazing to see it in the hands of some really creative industries.

What is exciting me is the Oculus Rift. That thing changes the game. Cannot wait for my dev kit!

Yeah I was wondering about that as I wrote. You are correct, not impossible. Camera tracking of more than one person will be tough, and the grunt needed to push something like that...I just can't see it being cheap enough to be viable. Not for the near future at least.
